Sunken mountain
Ghost or not,St Louis or Chicago...yeah,but... NUDIE SUIT AND YOU DON
anniezaleski
this post and others nail it on the head; i don't think jeff has any animosity at all toward the city. people move away; i mean, chuck berry lives in wentzville now, right? but for whatever reason, people who live in st. louis are bizarre about tweedy's legacy and his music. i think it's the city's whole thing that people who have ambition are sometimes frowned upon as being "too good"; the idea of having too much pride is a negative thing. i'm not a native st. louisian, so i don't agree with it (or understand it), but as an outside observer, i've seen it. it's a real shame, honestly. the fact that UT was here, but then he moved to chicago (the ULTIMATE insult) for wilco -- and blew up -- irks some people. i don't get it. the crowd at least in the balcony was tamer last night, but thursday was insane. there was a guy who had his shirt off and whipping it around his head, which is why tweedy said: "please put your shirt back on, sir!" in a lighthearted sorta way. oh, and i guess someone woman in front was flipping him off the entire time last night AND having a good time (he commented from stage). like, really? btw, we have pics of the nudie suit on our blog. i tried to capture it a bit, but the stupid railing was in the way. it was awesome. It's not that he hates St. Louis, it's just that the majority of our comunity are fucking retarded. This is why he has never played a solo show here, he would get hung. I spoke with him a little last night and welcomed him home and thanked him for coming back and how hard it must be to play here in front of a fucking zoo. He didn't disagree with anything I said and really looked shocked and emotionaly moved that someone had something real to say besides.........................Hey man your the greatest in the world, I love you man. Thanks Jeff!
Preferred B
Minus the "dog-whistler," and drunk high school boy who was hanging on Jen and I, clearly Cathy and I should NOT have driven home! Damn straight! We were thinking about you guys during and after the show. I'm home again now, too. Both Friday and Saturday, but especially Saturday, were SO MUCH FUN. I can't remember the last time I spent such a high percentage of a show jumping up and down. I have a nice picture of the plexiglass guitar I can put up a bit later. kingpin
I'm not trying to be an elitist ass, but my OCD requires me to point out that "Red Eyed and Blue" was followed by "I Got You (at the end of the century)". I know that they are always played in succession (like "We Will Rock You / We Are The Champions") and are kind of like one song, but those who care can add another track to total number of songs that were played last night. Total: 31! Wonderful Show! By the way, I've never heard of a "Nudie Suit". Is that what Gram Parsons called it as well?

oceanman
i mean, chuck berry lives in wentzville now, right? He has for a very long time now, actually a few miles from my house. I kind of wish he would move. Yeah, I'm really glad Wilco moved to Chicago. The St Louis scene ain't what it use to be and they would of never grown as artists and individuals if they stayed. Chicago has it's flaws to, there are assholes every where...............blah,blah,blah. But please be kind, they deserve it! Was really nice to hear Jeff say it's good to be home! Would also love to have these pics........please! Analogman
Nice, thanks! That's it.........................off to reading then. Keith Richards use to play one of those. I figure Jeff's is a re-make, as I think they were re-produced at some point in the 90s.
M. (hristine
Looked like Jeff and Nels can't keep out of the guitar stores. It was guitar porn up there. After waking up with a sore throat yesterday morning, driving to St. Louis w/o tickets on the outside chance...thanks so much Wilco. What a freakin' amazing show. Started out kind of pensive and subtle and then just of blew the roof clean off of the Pageant. Christ. I hurt myself dancing. Thank you for Pick Up the Change, boys. First time I have heard it during a show. Gotta show some gratitude to the VCers for being such kind human beings. You kids are the best. My voice sounds like a squeaky door today. laurie
Here ya go. I'll set up a link with my photos later but the real photos will come from Charles. What a great time. Rick and I saw fri and sat nite show. Sat nite was legendary, tho we did have to experience the token idiot chick, giving the finger to JT while dancing and enjoying herself. At least she didn't have a high pitched squeal that sounded like someone trying to attract whales. Great music and really great people to hang out with - especially because, back home-we are SO misunderstood! Thanks so much to all of you for hangin with us and making this such a great trip! Thanks so much to all of you for hangin with us and making this such a great trip! so much fun hanging out with you and everyone else this weekend! rick, i hope you've recovered from your "scare" last night. i honestly had more fun last night than at any of the riv shows in february. then again, i wasn't coughing up a lung this time, so that might have something to do with it. oh, and i have to say thanks to the band for your energy and for the time you gave to your fans after the show last night. enjoy your break...we look forward to seeing you and hearing some new material(!) in the coming months. poppydawn
It's been said before, but bears repeating: Wilco peoples is good people. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of you, although I'm wishing I could place more faces and names now. Never has three days of line-standing been so much damn fun! I love that while I was peeing, I could tell from the conversation in the bathroom that Laurie, Hoback Jct. and Cathy were in the restroom, and that they had no problems with me yelling, "Hey! Are you Laurie from Boston? I'm Poppydawn!" Nothing like hanging out in the john and gossiping with new internet friends long enough to make everyone wonder if I fell in.
