EL the Famous
Word. I really can't stand being talked at like I'm in second grade. I have never, in my admittedly brief voting career, encountered a candidate as annoying as Palin. annoying and, as i'll still contend, insulting. i have a lot more faith in the intelligence of the american collective than some and this visible attempt at 'dumbing down' under a thinly-veiled 'straight talk' to 'main street' makes me sick. mfwahl
You reversed the numbers. It was Biden 46%, Palin 22%. watch me fall
i tell you, i'm very surprsised nobody in here (especially in here) brought up her agreeing w/ the dick cheney approach to the vp position...that it is both legislative and executive, versus what it's supposed to be. i thought joe punctuated exactly how dangerous that type of view is very nicely. also, anybody thinks she made some of the religious conservative base she was brought in to capture by her suprisingly tolerant response to the gay community? i kind of got the vibe she agreed to something their platform doesn't really step up to.My guess is that the Cheney question came up early in the debate, didn't it? I know I kinda forgot about it until someone on another board pointed it out. But yeah, I agree that is a scary view as Biden pointed out.
myboyblue
It is a hundred times more condescending to the American whole than anything that smug, elitist Obama has put out there. yes, but the "millions of americans" being referenced above don't understand that. There are people that still believe that GWB is a regular Joe 6-pack.
Doug C
You can deny or not like the fact that many Americans....particularly in the midwest....rally around being "normal" people who fear God, work hard and like people who radiate positivity and hopefulness and wholesmomeness. But are there millions of us out there? Youbetcha!I too am religious, work hard and prefer positive and hopeful people. But I also want my leaders to be the smartest people in the room. I also want them to show it if they truly are rather than to hide their intellectual light under a 'kitchen table' bushel.

That for me was the kicker -- I agree that her command of the issues was merely surface, talking points at best. However, when in the last 15 minutes she spoke about what the VP does every day and then just gave lip service to how Dick Cheney had been conducting himself, when Biden finally spoke he just evicerated her. I was watching the C-SPAN split screen and you could see her turning red. The differences between the two answers were stark and frankly scary. Also, can you imagine her as President of the senate? God help us....
watch me fall
Did anyone see the CNN graphic last night of the uncommitted female and male voters from Ohio? Biden consistently scored higher with the women than with the men. and for the most part he scored consistently higher than Palin.

My guess is that the Cheney question came up early in the debate, didn't it? I know I kinda forgot about it until someone on another board pointed it out. Are we still talking about Republicans? I'm all for working hard. The God thing is optional. Hopefulness is good. Wholesomeness usually feels fabricated to me when presented in a political environment, but whatever. "Regular folks" are good. I'd probably say hi to her if she lived on my street and our kids went to school together or whatever. I have lots of neighbors I wouldn't want leading the country.

For the life of me I can't figure out why, based on this description, you haven't rallied behind Obama and Biden, who match that description to a T, while McCain doesn't fit any of it.
