solace
That's a very true statement for me. I've listened to it more than any other 2008 album. not meaning to be "that guy" really, but for me Vampire Weekend was def a 2007 record, because i wore out the Blue CD-R from August of last year through December when the real thing leaked, which only differed by 2 songs. haven't listened to the proper record too much in '

you ever seen a ghost?
>What do you consider For Emma? that one is easy. it had an official release in 2007 and was re-released in 2008. Vampire Weekend does not qualify becuase it leaked in '07 and saw official release in '08, so it's clearly an '08 release. God! -justin
solace
What do you consider For Emma? it was my #1 album of 2007, so not quite fair for me to list it again this year, but if i did it'd prolly be the #1 so far this year too

Killer Whales
My top 10 so far: 1. Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago2. The Hold Steady - Stay Positive3. Okkervil River - The Stand-Ins4. Sigur Ros - Med Sud...5. My Morning Jacket - Evil Urges6. The Raconteurs - Consolers of the Lonely7. Fleet Foxes - s/t (Their EP is unbelievable in my opinion. This one doesn't quite match it)8. Bonnie "Prince" Billy - Lie Down in the Light9. Elvis Costello - Momofuku10. Alejandro Escovedo - Real Animal British Sea Power is the only album this year that I really didn't like. The new Coldplay and Death Cab albums are both very good and are both in my top 20. Overall, this year is much better for me than last. Last year had some really great weirder records (LCD Soundsystem, Panda Bear, Animal Collective), but this year has just amazing straightforward rock albums.

bleedorange
1 star* Wolf Parade--at mount zommer I'm kind of amazed at the amount of dislike for At Mount Zoomer on this thread. I don't think it hits the highs of Apologies, but it's a great album. And I think only one person has mentioned Trouble in Dreams, which is also surprising. Then again, I am a little confounded by the absolute lovefest for Bon Iver, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about BEST OF THE BEST Aimee Mann - @#%&*! John Smith
I didin't see the latest Local H album on anyone's list, but I think it is a pretty darn good record. Might be their best yet.
