Sounds like someone needs to do a Google search, or at least check out AMG ;).

Yeah I did that, but I like to get more personal-type reflections and such.

That's why I post on places like this in the first place.

;) to you too!

well, if your only exposure is YouTube... the least you could do is check out the album, then decide... just a suggestion

Well, I can't buy all the albums of 2008 recommended here... How about some enlightments with words?

Nevermind, I'll read some reviews elsewhere...

it's pretty easy to find most any album online to listen to free... just my suggestion :thumbup

as for what i love so much about it, is the 4 part harmonies and often haunting (and gorgeous) melodies

What's the big deal with Fleet Foxes? Performant vocal harmonies and decent melodies, but what else? (I've only listened to them on YouTube)

I'm probably not the best one to provide an opinion here because I'm not the huge fan that some are (I have a real problem with some of the overly reverb drenched sounds). But a good (perhaps) description that occurred to me is to think of it like Panda Bear's Person Pitch but with a CSN bent instead of a Beach Boys bent. But again, that's just to my ears and I'm not particularly a fan of either album.

It's an amazing record. I don't buy a lot of music, rarely does something catch me strongly, but from the first few notes I was amazed and that feeling remained through the rest of the record. This is going to be one of those albums that people will always talk about. It is better than the hype. It's brilliantly haunting. It's definitely not a rocker, though.

As far as specific things, well, there could be other records that have elements of what this has (harmonies, guitars, interesting song structures, hymn-like qualities) but it's that special something that makes this record great. You have to hear it. Like solace said, you can find pretty much any album for free online now. Give it a whirl and if you like it, buy it.

Brighter Than Creations Dark is the best album of '08. The more I listen, the more it seems like a classic to me. Who knew a 19 song album could be so cohesive. Spooner helps too.
