Sir Stewart
Yeah, anyone who thinks that Manny isn't the hardest working player in baseball doesn't know much about him. Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa - let's not go nuts.
stagerug
Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa - let's not go nuts. Manny is one hell of a hitter, I give him that. But dude's kinda lumpy. If Proposition Joe from the Wire took a few spinning classes, he'd look a lot like Manny. He doesn't look like he backs off from much, and I'm not talking about the inside half of the plate... oh,... pun!

Most anyone who has been around him in the locker room says he's absolutely jacked. There's not much evidence of it on these interwebs, but this doesn't look like someone I'd call "lumpy"

Guest Hollinger.
When he was joking around about playing cricket this season instead of signing w/ a baseball team, some team took him up on it as a publicity stunt. Too many people mistake Manny's sloppy appearance as Manny being fat and lazy. Anyone in the game will tell you he's anything but.
bobbob1313
So what was the first half of last season? He is a tremendous talent and a great hitter and I am sure a hell of a nice guy. But look, the first half of last season was down right shameful. He didn't get what he wanted so he was a baby and the Sox's where forced to get ride of him because he was bringing down their team. Manny thought he was bigger then the team, and Manny thinks he is bigger then game at times. "Manny being Manny" is a ridiculous phrase, and is thrown around as an excuse for Manny acting disrespectful. He plays for the Dodgers, you don't talk about I wanna play for this team or that team, you talk about what team you are playing for now, and when our contract is up and you are free agent then do so. If I was a Dodger fan I would be pissed, because he is not focused on the Dodgers he is focused on himself. You want to be an Indian, great, kept your stupid "free agent" plans to yourself and your friends. If you want to be an Indian maybe you should have though about that over the winter and you were a free agent, instead of trying to position yourself with the biggest paycheck possible. Yes baseball is all about the money and team loyalty is not what it once was, but ball players play for a team and its fans. From what I have seen of Manny last season shows me he does not respect either one. Manny had a .926 OPS in the first half of last season. Ok, he was bad in May. He was awesome in April and June. Like I said, I wish all players disrespected the game like that. I wish my entire team disrespected the Marlins like that.

dunnright00
Can we stop talking about Manny for one minute and discuss the important facts of the day?!? Padres are in 1st place, and Jody Gerut made history as the first lead-off home run in a new ballpark!

Surprised the White Sox never used him in that capacity. In other news, looks like the Yankees have difficulties with baseball fundamentals. Call a guy off if you got it, right? Duck-Billed Catechist
http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/9455118...3162&ATT=49 White Sox resign Scott Podsednik. LOL. I assume this as DeWayne Wise's eventual replacement as the fourth/fifth outfielder. He better not be taking away ABs from Brian Anderson--he's not a good fielder.

Lammycat
Beckett suspended for 6 games and fined for allegedly throwing at Abreu's head the other night. If anyone saw this, Abreu had called time out in the middle of Beckett's wind up and Beckett let the ball sail (as he's supposed to do). Also cited were "aggressive actions" by Beckett, I'm assuming for Beckett coming off the mound after Abreu threw his arms up and started jawing at Beckett:http://www.seattlepi.com/baseball/2010ap_b...uspensions.html
