Sweet Papa Crimbo
Jebus. " not only are the Yankees not giving up any major prospects for Berkman, but the Astros are picking up "a lot" of his remaining contract." Un fucking believable

u2roolz
Rays acquire Chad Qualls from Arizona. Dodgers acquire Colin Farrell & Ryan Theriot from Cubs and send them Blake DeWitt in return. Cardinals acquire Jake Westbrook from Cleveland & Padres prospect Nick Greenwood. In return to San Diego they get Ryan Ludwick. Indians get prospect Corey Kluber amongst this 3 team deal. Pirates acquire Chris Snyder & AAA prospect Pedro Ciriaco from Arizona and send them D.J. Carrasco, Bobby Crosby & Ryan Church. Yankees acquire Austin Kearns from Cleveland for a player to be named later. In other interesting news, 3 teams inquired about Manny Ramirez: White Sox, Rays, & Angels. It looks like nothing is going to happen, but there's still 45 minutes. And the Dunn for Edwin Jackson deal isn't out of steam just yet even though Dunn is already in Washington's lineup for tonight. Also, rumored 3 team deal "in the works" amongst Giants, Diamondbacks & Blue Jays: Kelly Johnson, Jose Bautista & various Blue Jays relievers involved. Edit: Giants acquire Javier Lopez from Pirates and send them Joe Martinez in return. Yankees close to acquiring Kerry Wood from Cleveland. And in "big" Red Sox news: Jeremy Hermida designated for assignment?! What a waste. I hope they shopped him around for a reliever somewhere. But the Red Sox did call up Ryan Kalish (OF) who everyone in the Boston sports media has a woody over. His numbers at AAA seem to prove them right. I'll be expecting your report on salty foods, Mr. Hermida.

bobbob1313
White Sox burned Mark Kotsay's bat, supposedly for "good luck". Pretty sure it was just to keep him from using it in a playoff race.

Sweet Papa Crimbo
John Daniels has really grown up in the job at Texas. After a few really stinky trades in his early years, the guy has learned how to GM. The Teixeira trade was the turning point. Getting Andrus and Feziz would have been just fine. Beau Jones is still just 23, Matt Harrison is contributing and Saltalamaccia has been turned for prospects. Not to mention getting Cliff Lee for prospects. Smoak may or may not be anything in the future,(he certainly has struggled in his big league time). Blake Bevan has a really good arm. Mark Lowe has health and injury issues, Josh Leuke may have some character issues. Matt Lawson looke like he may be a player. B

Smokestack Joe
yes, lovely beating of the Cubs tonight, nice game Brewers. I was surprised to still see John Cusack still at the game in the 7th inning when the brewers were up by 12 runs. you could see him when the camera zoomed in on a right handed batter. he was wearing a black shirt with GUAM on it. The High Heat
A-Rod a no-show for team photo. They'll have to digitally enhance his face onto a stand-in's body. Maybe they could digitally enhance his frontal lobe while they're at it.

Oil Can Boyd
Kevin Youklis is out for the rest of the year. Pedro staying retired. I was looking at Pedro's career numbers and it reminded me how unbelievably good he was, particularly in 1999 and 2000.

The High Heat
XM is reporting that the Mariners have fired manager Don Wakamatsu. I remember every baseball person pronouncing him as a great baseball man with a great future - the best choice possible. The veteran players just didn't take to him this year, often butting heads with him.
