We saw the acoustic group last May.  Kunkel is indeed fantastic.  Check his credits on allmusic.com.  Impressive resume.  I think bringing some younger musicians aboard (not necessarily Kunkel) has re-energized Lovett.  It seems like maybe his best songwriting days may be behind him, but his performing is going through a Renaissance.

My wife asked me why I was so impressed by Russ Kunkel. I told her he played on "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner" and she understood!

It was the best, most relaxed performance from Lyle that I have seen. Highly recommended.

King Crimson opening night in Albany, again next Sunday in NYC, J Mascis the following Wednesday, Wilco 2 nights in Port Chester, followed by Johnny Marr in Brooklyn.  And on a regional note, Jake and the Family Jewels here in New Haven at a little theater about 200 hundred seats with Terry Adams of NRBQ playing keys next Saturday.    It's gonna be a great month!

PS the new Q disc, Brass Tacks, is frigging great.
