Sweet Papa Crimbo
http://www.nj.com/ya...?mobRedir=false Andy Pettitte signs with the Yankees. I saw this today on the MLB network with the sound down (listening to Springsteen's keynote address on the computer and watching the tv) and I said "WHAT THE FUCK" so loud I scared my wife in her office. The High Heat
MLBTraderumors had the simple line (with no further elaboration, which is unusual for them) "Yankees Sign Andy Pettitte." I thought what you said, then I thought it was one of those bullshit ceremonial one-day contracts. Turned on XM, Jeff Nelson was being interviewed, and he said this possibility has been in the works since December. Later heard relayed info from the original source of the story, who claims the Yankees actually offered $10M before they signed Kuroda and traded for Pineda. Pettitte didn't decide to return until he arrived at camp as a special instructor. He missed the competition so much he had to leave camp because he couldn't stand not being a playing member of the team. Word is that Pettitte will probably go to extended Spring Training and make a few starts in the minors before returning to The Bronx. The Yanks hope for Pettitte to be their 4th or 5th starter. It's a great sign if he can win 10 games and be available for the postseason. This is one hell of a depth signing.

MrRain422
Oops. Dodgers should be in 4th. Will edit it back in. I think the Marlins are probably a little better than last year, but I still don't think it's enough to catch the Phillies or Braves, and I think the Nationals are a team on the rise. It's a tough division. I also think the Blue Jays will be a pretty good team, but in a good division a good team can still be way out of it.
