jw harding
Although the new 76 box set doesn't blow me away, it is better than expected. Really good sound quality brings the music to life much more than previous listens to 76. But still don't think I would pay for it.

calvino
Bit bummed that it is a 71 show and not a 70 show. At least, I will save some money... The latest Dave's Pick is definitely a great one.

Anybody know the meaning of 'slated' and 'not slated'? Guessing it's studio jargon. Hopefully they do the same for American Beauty.
jw harding
Music Term: SlateThe voice recorded onto the beginning of a master tape to identify the tune and take, or the action of making it. Also refers to the circuit or control which allows you to slate masters. Hope that helps. Not sure why they bothered indicating that on the tracks. Who cares.
calvino
Thanks -- spent about 10 seconds looking into it an just coming up 'a type of rock' ---- a pretty interesting listen --- don't think I will revisit it often, though. Other news - the Fare Thee Well shows will be streamed (kinda crazy that it has already been five years) this Sunday. Probably will try to watch the the July 3rd show, which I thought was the best of the run. https://fans.com/

mattboh
I haven't posted here in a while (maybe as long as 15 years), but I check in from time to time. Glad to see that the Grateful Dead thread is still going. When the lockdowns first started, I decided to listen to the Europe '72: Complete Recordings in it's entirety. I've diverged several times and repeated several shows on the way, but I just finished the Rotterdam show from May 11th. From my memory of tape trading days, this show was the pinnacle of the tour. I still have 7 shows to go and I'm amazed how consistent they were on this tour. Aside from all the Mr. Charlie's, I have no complaints so far. I've listened to most of these shows over time, but never sequentially. There really is nothing else like a Grateful Dead show.
