Old 97's: Instead of putting out one album every couple of years that is maybe half-full of good songs, put out a really amazing album every 4 years. Also, that live concert video you did at the Troubador in LA a few years back - it has a ton of close-up shots of Rhett. I was at that show and there wasn't a camera close enough to get those shots. Upon close inspection of the footage it's pretty clear that you re-filmed Rhett after the show to get that angle. Cheesy. (Great show, though!)

Let Freedom Ring and be "Fabulous"
Mr. Kinsley replied to theologian's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
No, but I did see that movie about Oscar Wilde a few years back. I had no idea that dudes could do it in the missionary position. -
Let Freedom Ring and be "Fabulous"

So, who should be in charge of the legal aspect of marriage if not the government? Should polygamy and incest be legalized through a lack of oversight? The government is only involved in terms of setting the parameters of the institution of marriage. -

This is an outrage and needs to be reversed!! Yet another assault on the family. This absolutely disgusts me to my very core! I'll be damned if I will now have to leave my wife and marry some other guy! What about my children?!?!? I mean, really, who in their right mind would... hmm? What's that?... I can stay with my wife, but gay people can get married now if they want to? Oh. I'm cool with that. What's the big deal? -
John Rutsey, original Drummer for Rush dies
Mr. Kinsley replied to jff's topic in Someone Else's Song
Not to slight Mr. Rutsey, but after being led to believe for a moment that Neil had passed, I now need a new pair of underwear. -
Don't count on it. Even after trying for 6 years to convert her, her usual reply when she hears any song she doesn't like is, "Is this Wilco?" Oh, and welcome aboard.

Did the incident happen before or after the Pantera incident? If somebody snuck up on me on stage after that had happened, I'd probably flip out. I'd like to say I'd bash their face in, but one never knows how they'd react in that type of situation. I guess the key is that whoever the performer is, no one could really blame them for not asking for personal references before popping the stage-jumper in the teeth with their guitar.

That's really wierd that he'd change the spelling of his name when he plays drums.

Wakey-wakey! (Seriously, Pinata Full of Puppies has to win. That one rules!)

Conservatives happier than liberals?
Mr. Kinsley replied to Good Old Neon's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I was wondering the same. On an unrelated note, I just wished you a happy birthday in the El Foxwell thread, thinking erroneously that you had once again changed your name. -
It can NEVER be too long.

Put on your favorite old school kicks and have a great birthday!!

I completely disagree. We're way better at being slobs than women are. -
Oh good! I couldn't imagine Jeff could have a problem with Grohl. Hopefully the Foos come on right after* Wilco and dress up in some sort of caveman outfit! *Let's be realistic here.

Illegal activity I am guilty of....
Mr. Kinsley replied to remphish1's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
What a strange collision of liberal and conservative: People getting upset about government intrusion into their eco-friendly lifestyle. -
You beat me to it!

OoooOOOoooooh! They look soooo tough! Are they modeling women's jackets?

I find that kind of a bummer, since from all accounts Dave Grohl is about the nicest guy in music. What exactly did Jeff say about them? Also, nobody mentioned Swell Season being same day as Wilco. Damn this whole living-on-the-west-coast-without-unlimited-disposeable-income thing.

What's the worst thing you ever ran thru the washer?
Mr. Kinsley replied to kidsmoke's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I was taking clothes out of the dryer and found a small piece of clear plastic with a pattern around the edges. It looked familiar for some reason, but I couldn't place it. Where have I seen... oh yeah! That's the same pattern as the inside of the envelope that my paycheck comes in. Then I realized that that was all that was left of said envelope AND paycheck. After a few days of sweating bullets about the potentially beaurocratic policies of the Los Angeles Unified School District on such matters, I was in fact able to get a new one. -
In honor of his retirement I plan on putting his first solo album in the old CD player later today. I still love that one. He went steadily downhill after that, but at least he knows when to call it a day. (Yeah, I'm looking at you Rolling Stones.)

Ahh, they just made up the weddings and babies part. They knew we'd never approve of idly sitting around and relaxing. They just needed an alibi. (But congrats to whomever is uniting and/or reproducing. Y'know... just in case it's true. )

A Thread for Musical Blasphemy you Truly Believe
Mr. Kinsley replied to hardwood floor's topic in Someone Else's Song
George Michael and John Mayer are both incredibly talented, but unfortunately make some less-than-stellar choices in material. Having said that, I like a fair bit from both of them. Their early solo stuff - and even SOME stuff from Wham - is fantastic.
