  1. "I've crossed many states to stand here now..."
  2. I sold some "art" today. I feel dirty.
  3. You make up your mind, you choose the chance you take You ride to where the highway ends and the desert breaks Out on to an open road you ride until the day You learn to sleep at night with the price you pay Now with their hands held high, they reached out for the open skies And in one last breath they built the roads they'd ride to their death Driving on through the night, unable to break away From the restless pull of the price you pay Oh, the price you pay, oh, the price you pay Now you can't walk away from the price you pay Now they'd come so far and they'd waited so long Just to end

  8. I think a full-on endorsement would mean the band touring thusly from now on:
  9. ironic that education is a snake pit -- particularly your program. Reminds me of the old bumper sticker to the effect of "let the pentagon hold bake sales ..."
  10. I aged out of thinking theme parks (and things of that ilk -- yes carnivals, sorry Lammy) were fun when I was about 15 -- I think it was that last puke on the Rotor. But for those of you lining up for your Harry Potter tickets, you won't want to miss these gems: "Nobody will be harmed and everybody will be returned, hopefully, in the same shape" and Jesus Christ! It's a theme park!
  11. Just finished the new ones by Sherman Alexie (Flight) and Chuck P. (Rant) -- oddly enough they were both time travel books. The Alexie I recommend without hesitation, the Palahniuk only if you're a fan of his particular brand of rabid weirdness (which I am). Next up is Isabel Allende's Ines of My Soul. Maybe it's a time travel book too.
  12. which chapter of the Bible featured dinosaurs ... I'm a little hazy on that.
  13. alas, burlington is the same night as the Wilco Pines show.
  14. field-based sounds so much better than cubicle-based! congrats Lou, and enjoy!
  15. Has this already been posted? I can't keep track. mother says ...
  16. from my intrepid upstate reporter I learned Ryan was not nearly as cheery and talkative at the Kingston show as in Morgantown. Also learned he's playing a June date in Burlington VT .... if that happened to be the same weekend (but not the same night) as the Wilco Shelburne show I'd be pretty damned happy.
  17. I vote for Wilco's very own Van Diemen's Land -- It's Just That Simple.
  18. Unwelcome Guest is my personal favorite ... it may have been Jeff's backing vocals on that one that really set me on the Wilco trail.
  19. There's a frightening number of people living on the eastern seaboard.
  20. goddamnit, now I'm gonna have to buy a fucking VW, and I really wanted to stick with Honda. Damn you Wilco!!!
  21. Fantastic Four: The Rise of The Silver Surfer
  22. Agreed about NYC/LI statehood. And NYC need not worry about New England status. That's the whole point -- unaffiliated with NYC.. I think the imaginary cutoff is Westchester County -- north of ...
