  1. Jazz fans mark your calenders. August 30th - September 2nd - Chicago Jazz Festival http://pix724.blogspot.com/2012/04/chicago-jazz-festival-announces-artist.html from Ken's twitter feed:
  2. I am hoping they release So Far separately at some point - which I am sure they will. I don' think I ever have seen Backstage pass, either. It is a nice price for them all.
  3. I wonder if Jerry's Nash guitar is going to be there?
  4. Yeah - looks like they have a crap load of gear there.
  5. http://www.wkyc.com/news/photo-gallery.aspx?storyid=240572 Pics from the Hall of Fame exhibit. Definitely going to try to make a family vacation out of it. Looks like they have some great stuff.
  6. No idea what Instagram is, but that is a great shot.
  7. Never listened to it - should try it sometime. I do consider myself a Lou Reed fan.
  8. Since I mentioned Neil Steinberg earlier in the thread - I might as well post a link to his column from today. He sat down with Dick Durbin (IL U.S. Senator) It's Durbin's take on the Tea Party, Occupy Movement, and Democrat/Republican relations. http://www.suntimes.com/news/steinberg/12067377-452/durbin-election-best-hope-for-reviving-government.html
  9. That last pitch was close.. ..plus this is AJ's first - Castro pitched Buehrle's.
  10. Can't believe I missed it --- AJ's second, I believe, catching one.
  11. I think that may have been my line of thinking (hired hands). At the time I had a few Robertson solo records, but I haven't been following what the then-current Band was up to. I do remember when Jericho was released and thought their version of Atlantic City was pretty decent. Of course, his recent "Dirt" releases are great. Another side story regarding Helm, I could have grabbed his set list from his last show at the Old Town of Folk Music. I saw a show there the next afternoon and it was sitting on the stage. It was near Justin Roberts keyboardist' keyboard so I figure someone gave it t
  12. Anybody make it to the Alpine movie last night? I couldn't make it.
  13. Watched a bit of the above last night - looking forward to watching more of it. My only time seeing The Band was in 93 or 94, when they were opening for the Dead. I missed most of their sets (they played two nights) because I was having too much fun in the lot --- I was young and stupid.
  14. I ordered this release from Matador this past Monday - hoping to receive it, soon. A Renaldo/Wilco bill sounds great.
  15. I am not sure when the term jam band took root - but I think I was listening to the Dead before I heard about the phrase "jam band" - At least I don't remember ever saying to someone who wasn't familiar with the Grateful Dead - "I going to see The Grateful Dead - you know that great jam band". I never thought of the Dead as a "jam band". That's just me, though.
  16. To be fair, what President hasn't blamed everybody else? It is a trait of Obama that I don't particularity care for, though. I guess it goes with the job. The Congress has always been a great fall guy, as has big business, banks, unions, Communists....for any President.
  17. Or it might mean the Grateful Dead is not a jam band.
  18. Heard one of their songs on the radio this morning - good tune. Nice back story to the band.
  19. Watching the Bandstand with my older sisters was pretty fun. Gotta love the opening theme - yeah I said it.
  20. Probably so - I think you are from Chicago --- Neil Steinberg is always writing about hats...I think he would agree with you. He even wrote a book about it - haven't gotten around to read it yet, though.
  21. When was that? I am not blaming today's media in the least - but in today's time there is so many news sources, so we can see/hear/read all about this stupid stuff. The stupid stuff has always been around - I am sure there was a Ted Nugent character in politics in the 1800's, but only the ones who could actually read or had access to the tabloid press/yellow journalism of its day, knew of the character. At least they don't dual anymore in Washington, DC.
