Listened to Songs for Drella this morning - I think for the first time, at least I don't remember listening to it before. Really great record.

Nice speech. Guess one can say he heard all those critical of him getting the award - Shakespeare and Dylan are now both in the alley. http://www.relix.com/blogs/detail/read_bob_dylans_gracious_nobel_prize_acceptance_speech_in_full

What was your favorite concert you have attended?
calvino replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
I was at that Red Rocks show - cold night. I saw the same bill in St. Louis in 1999 - I thought the 99 show was better. Stipe and obviously Tweedy both have a Southern IL connection and they both played with a bit of chip on their shoulders, that night. -
Were you peeing in the woman's bathroom sink, again???

Ochs is great - enjoy.

Unreleased Uncle Tupelo demos? New interview with Jay at Garden and Gun

Yeah - those UT reissues were good --- esp. since my original cds were beat to hell. -

Next year will be the 30 Anniversary of the trio changing their name to Uncle Tupelo. Reunion Time! Also Garden and Gun is a pretty cool name for mag. -
Notice those shows - haven't downloaded them, yet. I enjoyed the latest releases -- granted I borrowed them both from my library and did not purchase them ---- though my philosophy on that sort of stuff, is that my tax dollars help purchase it...and I am sticking with that philosophy until my kids are out of private pre-school/day care and such).

Interesting video for CRB's ""Forever As The Moon" tune -- have been on a Game of Thrones kick the last two weeks, so it reminds of the show. Really starting to like this group, which makes the Crowes' hiatus/ending easier. Need to catch a Rich show at some point... http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/rock/7597391/chris-robinson-brotherhood-video-forever-as-the-moon-alan-forbes

Below is link from the archive of the debuts of covers that the Grateful Dead performed - as Lammy stated lots of styles/genres/musicians/etc. https://archive.org/details/GratefulDeadCoverSongDebuts66-95

Agree with Mad Men - esp. the first few seasons -- it did seem to loose some steam, though - but well worth watching the entire run. I am in the never watched the Wire series camp. I think it is on Netflix or Prime, maybe a new series for us to watch in the new year. Just finished Season 2 of Mr. Robot, which was great (and depressing and freaky). Also on the last episode of Season 6 of Game of Thrones - another great season.

Sale is awesome, but I am fine with the trade. Hopefully it pans out for the White Sox - definitely received some great players in return.

Didn't realize that another theatre was renovated. That's cool. Plus, it is right off the Metra Van Buren Electric line to boot.

Much prefer driving to Alpine, too. We will be able to train it up to Wrigley, but would rather camp and hang out up in Alpine.

Just listened to Hair of the Dog via Spotify today at work - never realized that Love Hurts was a Everly Brother's tune.

Was kinda surprised Greg Kot didn't even mention the record in his 'best of list' in Sunday's Tribune paper. Not even a honorable mentioned. Typically he throws them a bone, at least.

That's good one - me too. Same with Green Manaleshi.
-
A crap load from the Stones. 60's blues/R&B covers through Just My Imagination.
-
That's what I thought - but I couldn't remember.

Is Nels living in New York City, now-a-days?

At first I thought you were serious, then I started to hum a tune and chuckled. -
Warren and Allen Woody were in the Allman Brothers Band for good few years by 94, so they had a constant money source by then. Record company may have chipped in, too.

Ticket costs is why we are just catching one night in Chicago. Think this will be the first time that we are not catching a whole Chicago run. Which is fine.

So far I have only listened to about 4 shows from the recent 66 tour box -- sound is decent -- the audience recording that I heard, leaves a lot to be desired, but it was cool to hear the audience laughing at some of the new style of lyrics. From the audience recording, It seemed that audience was definitely digging the new tunes. It definitely will take awhile to get all the way through the set.
