  1. Have been listening to Dicks Pick Vol. 13 (5/6/81) today - not the best sounding release, but Disc 1 it is great while going for a drive. The Scar/Fire from 11/1/79 filler on disc two is superb. Next up is the Road Trips Vol. 1 - Fall '79.
  2. I thought he did an okay job, though. Too bad the Cub's bats didn't. Since the playoffs started, It seems like it's all or nothing for the Cubs. And since I mentioned it, my friend was able to unload all four Peter Hook tickets -- at face value, too. Glad not everyone are wimps like us who don't want to deal with crowds... Should be fun tonight - a neighbor is setting up a screen in his back yard to watch the game, taking advantage of the nice weather. He is actually getting a keg - haven't been to a kegger in years....
  3. Probably Dick's Picks, Vol. 5, 1996 : Oakland, 12/26/79. Looking forward to the new Dave's Pick. Something different - 81 is another year I don't listen to all that much.
  4. I think he will be a pitch hitter, too - at least for tomorrow. We'll see what happens if they don't win tomorrow, though, about Game 4 and 5. I think it's too risky putting him in the field for Game 3, since they really don't need to. Would be cool to see him get another 4 or so at bats, though tomorrow night, in Wrigley.
  5. Yeah -- with all the rain yesterday, I am sure the field is going to be still a bit soggy, tomorrow night. Will be interesting to see if he gets the start in Left.
  6. Couldn't watch the above link, due to 'country's restrictions.' Look forward to it. But I did watch the below 2002 Jools Holland performance - John kicks some butt on this track. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGF-5sjGaF4
  7. I am a sucker for maps and such - I think the below map is pretty cool. My town is on the map -- 50% White Sox / 32% Cubs / 4% Yankees -- seems about right. "A Map of Baseball Nation" http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/04/24/upshot/facebook-baseball-map.html?_r=1#7,42.273,-87.116
  8. The World Series is on regular TV - none of the playoffs were. I had to purchase Sling TV for the month on the Roku, which costed $25. It's a month to month thing - so I guess it wasn't too bad. Already canceled it.
  9. I think it was just one dude who was calling Dylan arrogant, etc -- he was pretty much shot down by the rest. No person is expected to acknowledge anything or accept the award - see Sartre and and few others.
  10. We have watched the first 6 episodes - real great stuff --- and, yeah, like in the early 80's movies (and maybe in real life) the parents are never around. It's nice to watch Ryder in a good role again. Great soundtrack, too. I was 11 in 83 (the kids are 12 in the show) - but I definitely see myself (and my friends) in all three of the kids.
  11. The best part for me was that only 27 batters came to the plate for the Dodgers - pretty damn cool for an elimination game. Anybody want to buy Peter Hook tickets for next Friday???
  12. You are correct, sir. None. Have to admit, I have tickets to show at the Metro ( a block or so away from Wrigley) for next Friday night -- if the Cubs make it to the Series they will be home; there is no way I will be heading to the show if that is the case. So now, I kinda hope they blow it. We bought these tickets back in January and I told my wife that we may be in trouble if the Cubs make it to the Series - she laughed...
  13. Yeah - I have always enjoyed the tune when I saw them live in the 90s - loved the beats, etc - no beats last night, just guitar.
  14. Really great show last night. Opened with Corrina, a tune I have always enjoyed. Also played Dylan's Most of the Time - which I was not expecting, a great version. That tune has always been one of my favorites from Dylan. The first time I saw Dylan, in 97, Ani DiFranco opened for him and she did a version of Most of the Time, then when Dylan came on that same night, he did his version - now I have Weir's - great, great tune. Already up on Archive. https://archive.org/details/weir2016-10-20.akg481
  15. I very rarely listen to sports radio, but while going through channels this morning, I happen to catch someone calling in who is a film editor - he watched the footage on his professional equipment and he said Gonzalez was indeed out. People who call into sports radio are never wrong. (He looked safe to me, too)
  16. Bob Weir at the Chicago Theater (Better be good, I am missing my son's musical theater debut -- he ended up getting two lines...)
  17. I saw Miss You on the set list and thought it was the Stones tune -- forgot that Phish has a new tune name Miss You. It's interesting that Weir sang a lot of the verses last night.
  18. Did you put the above in this thread because of the Al Kooper reference? Did you know it was quite by accident that Kooper played keyboards with Dylan and without Kooper, Dylan probably never would have won the Nobel Price....
  19. Nice write-up from Rolling Stone on the Live '66 set. Looks like they did track down the master audience tapes - hopefully some more info the AUD's will be in the notes. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/inside-bob-dylans-massive-new-36-album-1966-live-box-set-w444654
  20. Nice piece by The Arizona Republic defending it's first endorsement of a Democratic President against to those who disagree. http://www.azcentral.com/story/opinion/2016/10/16/publisher-response-to-threats-after-republic-endorsement-clinton-trump/92058964/
  21. The only time I voted early was in 2008 - I lived down the block from President Obama and my wife and I knew that the actual voting day was going to be very crowded in our neighborhood. Even voting early we had to wait for close to an hour.
  22. Just turned on the XM channel and they are playing a Depeche Mode tune -- don't know if that means anything -- then they went into ELO, looks like they are just going down the list--- think I am going back to the Dead channel. (I am a Depeche Mode fan, though). Don't Let Me Down -- e-gads...
