  1. I want to say that Hillary did have the magic number when they got to Vermont - but I can be wrong about that , though I did watch the roll call yesterday -- it was interesting that the DNC did not show the actual tally in the hall during the roll call. I am sure Sanders stipulated that he wanted all the States to do their thing, prior to him declaring an end -- which is probably the right thing to do, anyway. Good point about Clinton in 2008 - I forgot that she squashed it when it got to New York. (just checked - South Dakota put Clinton over the top - so she did have enough, prior to V
  2. This past weekend, I thought Ted Koppel did a decent job interviewing Trump -- the interview aired on CBS Sunday Morning. Agreed the press needs to step up.
  3. Agree about Banks - horrible job. Did you ever find out who's in the house band, jff -- or is the music canned -- I never noticed a band playing, but they may be off or near-off stage.
  4. Different, for obvious reasons, but he did good job. Hillary Clinton's little talk was odd - not sure if the music was suppose to stop, but it was distracting. I am sure they will get some flack for the theatrics. Nice touch for Sanders to declare an end to the delegate vote - just like Hillary Clinton did in 2008. Also nice touch that a childhood friend of hers announced her Illinois' delegate count.
  5. Yeah, I was watching it during her speech and you can tell she was getting a little peeved - I was waiting for her to say something. I can see why Warren was not picked as a VP mate -- I am in step with her are far as policy goes - but she's no Kaine on the stump; of course all the dumb heckling probably didn't help her. A missed opportunity for her. Sanders and Michelle Obama were definitely the highlights. Hopefully the Sanders' crowd got it all out their system yesterday -- I am sure some of it will roll over to today's delegate roll call - as it should - but than after that, hopefull
  6. What a strange, poor year thus far the White Sox -- now, Sale is cutting up uniforms in the club house...Ugh! Ventura has to go. At least there was April.
  7. I thought Kaine's 1st speech after he was introduced by Clinton was a good - sure he was pandering, but that's politics. Might help get some of the middle of the road Republicans/Independents to the polls for the ticket, because they are not Trump/Pence. I would have preferred a more progressive running mate - I laughed when Clinton introduced Kaine as a 'progressive'.
  8. Can't see him playing with again, either -- he had plenty of opportunities, it seems.
  9. I can't see any Sanders supporters voting for Trump - I voted for Sanders and will vote for Clinton in the general. Not sure why any Sanders supporter would bother voting for Trump - I would think they would vote for another party or not vote at all for a President. Does anybody actually know any Sander's supporters who said they are voting for Trump? I haven't looked into it at all - perhaps out of fear of my head exploding reading up on it...
  10. Yikes - and I thought it was hot here (Chicagoland) - it's spring, compared.
  11. Hall and Oates at a shed - free Ticketmaster tickets. It will be show time decision though - it's too f'n hot, for a show that we are only mildly interested in. Since we have a sitter already planned out, perhaps a nice dinner and drinks with the wife will suffice.
  12. Good point on the Stones song - it may be a jab at the Republican 'establishment' base. With regards to the new voters - to Trump's great credit - he did get people out to vote during the primaries ---- I expect all those people to vote for him in the general, as well as some Republicans who didn't - but I think the people who vote in the general election, vote in the primaries or at least pay attention to the process ---- Trump didn't show anything different last night - still no plan, nothing except what people dislike most about him, which is screaming about everything and having no subst
  13. Watching Trump, somehow I fell asleep over the shouting coming out the TV. Can't say he is going to gain any new voters from that speech - from on the fence Republicans or the undecided Independents and Democrat. Hopefully, the Democrats are able to put something together next week and put on a better show - it shouldn't be too hard. Regarding the Stones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want" - he also used that song before the introduction of Pence as VP - I thought it was a rather odd choice of song for the occasion.
  14. http://wilcobase.com/songs.php This should help narrow it down - Enter 'Ripple'
  15. Great shot. During the Cruz' speech, during the speech, I kept thinking of what Sir Stewart wrote in the other thread - about having fear of the Trump supporters. Cruz's wife had to be escorted out - stay classy Trumpites...
  16. Anybody know if the status of the VC Archives --- are they ever coming back -- guessing it may be a server/expense thing - though I can be completely wrong about that, because I don't know how any of it works.
  17. Recently finished Jarnow's Heads: A Biography of Psychedelic America - it was an interesting book, but Jarnow's writing bugged the hell out of me. At times, he wrote some dumb one-liner after each section/chapter - each sentence could have been cut and it would have been a much enjoyable read. Nice review though - Pitchfork covering a Dead show - who would of thought.
  18. Too bad Hunter S. Thompson isn't around for any of this - he would have had a field day with this. I am sure Obama will be blamed.
  19. I hope that's not the case for my 6 year old - e-gads! Though over the last couple of weeks - there has been much worse stuff going than the RNC Convention.
  20. Did you mean Rob Gronkowski's dancing/performance or Mickey???? That's a great shot - TP.
