  1. Old man Daley never would call him Ali, either. Below is great piece on Ali's life in Chicago. Just learned that four of his kids graduated from my local high school. When I lived in the city, I lived near his old city' house - didn't realize that I moved near his or his mother of children's suburban house. It is crazy and dumb that some politicians try to gain some cheap political's points on someone's death - but I guess many of the dude's constituents agree with him. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-muhammad-ali-chicago-20160604-story.html
  2. That's really not a just a Republican stance --- my dad is a 77 year old Democrat who still holds the whole Vietnam thing against him. (My dad served - in between Korea and Vietnam) I don't agree with my dad and others - my dad and I had great conversations about it.
  3. I was working a summer job in a factory - a co-worker who was a big heavy metal fan use to goof with me because I was hippie looking dude - always in a good nature way - he was the one who told me about Garcia's passing, he actually seemed remorseful about it. Even though I saw him at the last Soldier Field show and he looked terrible, I didn't really believe the guy, since through out the summer he was always saying shit -- when I got in my car after our shift ended, a Dead song was playing on the radio station when I turned my car on and figured it was true.
  4. Listening to this now --- Phil's normally bugs the hell out of me when he sings - but I really like his singing on 5/28/16's Broken Arrow.
  5. So far I'm liking Deadicated much more than this one. Nothing is really jumping out as of yet.
  6. Can't hit with runners on base and relievers have been blowing it as of late - they gave up 6 or 7 runs in the bottom of the 9th to loose one game against KC...
  7. The 5.26.95 was a great show for the year though -- just listened to it this a.m.
  8. Never listened to Byrdmanix, but that album cover is horrible ---- it's Han Solo'ist.
  9. The people I know who do not enjoy watching or playing baseball, think it's a boring game. I don't think shaving 10 to 20 minutes off a game is going to sway anyone. Are they proposing and making these changes for the players, owners or the fans? Watching football is a far more tedious.
  10. That was my take away when I saw them at Lollapalooza a couple of years ago -- still a great show, but Reeves was a bit overpowering at times.
  11. Had to Google Gary Gygax - never would have guessed who he was...
  12. That would be nice. Keep remembering a Trey interview, where he kept asking Phil if they could practice Attics -- at least the harmonies -- and Phil kept saying we'll get to it, we'll get to it. I think Trey and Bruce were the only ones who got to it. One thing I can say for Dead & Company - they seem to rehearse - at least it sounds like it. Grant it they are touring - it's not just 3 show run, like the Fare Thee Well shows. Trey definitely gave his time, effort and attention to the shows - it appears, at least.
  13. Going into the shows - that's the way I took it, too, Peter Shapiro was always careful to say as much, too. I think the Mayer rumors were in the air prior to the Fare Thee Well shows, if I remember correctly. Plus, I wouldn't care if all four did another show or two together again, anyway - actually I think it would be great if they did.
  14. Heard W.A.S.P.'s cover of "The Real Me" on the way to work this morning - it still holds up for a cover version, the vocals and drums are pretty great. Haven't heard it in a long time.
  15. I knew of Guy Clark, but didn't really look too close until Lyle Lovett released Step Inside This House. Below is Lyle's cover of the title track, and he tells a great story about Clark, too. It's a great tune. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GVpeKmniLY
  16. I skipped the 78 box. It does look great, though. Listened to the 7/8/78 Red Rock show via Spotify - it's a good one. I know I have heard the 7/8/78 plenty of times over the years, though - the first two shows of the box are the ones I am not familiar with.
  17. Another Garcia release - it's been a while, it seems. Would have been cool as hell seeing Garcia play in a 200 capacity club.
  18. It would be a bummer if the band stops playing "Standing O" - it's a fun tune, live.
  19. Curious to know how you know Moore taped this. I don't see any info in the lineage. Does anyone know if there is a complete list of all the shows he taped?
  20. Every band member will have to have a flower painted on their cheek -- an all girl Dead cover band.
  21. This is the main reason I am heading to Alpine --- we're even camping - haven't camped for show since the Terrapin Station shows in 02. I think the music if fine, though. Regarding the money grab and Lesh, etc - I never paid any of that any mind. Last year, I wouldn't have gone to see the Dead & Co show if my buddy didn't want to go, but he didn't really start to listen to the Dead's music until about 04 or so and he wanted to see some of the members play live - so I went and ended up enjoying it. He did, too. The last time (and only time) my wife saw a Dead related show was when th
  22. Speaking of Dead cover bands - tomorrow night, I probably will be catching Jake's Leg down in So. Illinois - playing on the shores on the Mississippi River. They're pretty decent, been seeing them play since 1990 or so. Should be a nice night.
