Recently finished Jarnow's Heads: A Biography of Psychedelic America - it was an interesting book, but Jarnow's writing bugged the hell out of me. At times, he wrote some dumb one-liner after each section/chapter - each sentence could have been cut and it would have been a much enjoyable read. Nice review though - Pitchfork covering a Dead show - who would of thought.

Thoughts on the Republican National Convention

Too bad Hunter S. Thompson isn't around for any of this - he would have had a field day with this. I am sure Obama will be blamed. -
Did you mean Rob Gronkowski's dancing/performance or Mickey???? That's a great shot - TP.
-
Yeah - I thought it was weird when Mickey started licking the beam. Can't say I have seen that before.

Watched the Cabin Fever dvd last week - always quite the trip.

With apologies to jw harding -- I purchased the two webcasts at Fenway - out of the two nights, I think Passenger was the only clunker - Friday's Mayer's outfit was a bit funny - man, he can play. http://thoughtsonthedead.com/a-candid-photo-of-john-mayer/
-
Yeah - All good reasons.
-
Mayer and Oteil seem like they would be fun to shoot -- both are very exuberant in their playing.

Kinda cool -- Footage of Garcia/Grisman and others from Sweetwater (1990) http://www.jambase.com/article/jerry-garcia-david-grisman-reunite-sweetwater-1990

The dvd/video from Nov. 17, 1992, WTTW studios, Chicago show and interview is still seeding on Dime. Do a search for %WTTW%. Also, heard Old King on the way to work this a.m. on the radio.

Came across the below review on Saturday's Alpine Valley Dead & Co. show --- two of my friends who I went with made it on one of the pics - at least their backs did. It was the writer's first show - a nice perspective. http://www.theshowlastnight.com/dead-company-alpine-valley-music-theater/

I wish I could remember it, but I was too young --- though I do remember watching White Sox on Channel 44 - also the Blackhawks. I had to bring out our little black and white TV outside on our porch to get good reception. I am sure tin foil was involved. Just saw that Dahl is going to be at a Hooters near me tonight --- wife is heading to a Violent Femmes show, though -- somehow I don't think my kids would be too excited to head to a Hooters.

Not sure if I am the best person to answer this - I wasn't really paying attention to the time. The start date on the Alpine show was 7:30pm - I believe, they took the stage around 7:40 or so. I think the venue had a 11:30 curfew.

Had a great time - perhaps a little too much... Beautiful day - the lot was fun and it was festive inside, too. A nice quiet campground near by -- all was good. From a music stand point, I though the St. Louis show I saw last fall was a bit better, but Saturday's night show no slouch. They definitely are pretty tight - no major f-ups. The band definitely keeps things interesting --- must admit this band is one of the better ones since 95. I was going to watch last night's Webcast - but figured I wouldn't make it past the 1st set - I was beat.

The Bottle Rockets - Because there doesn't seem to be a thread

That's cool. -
Yeah - $30 bucks is too much - that's why I don't do the webcasts very often. The lawn ticket was $40.

That's cool, just told my wife that it would be cool if they webcast the Sunday show - we're heading to the Saturday show, but decided against the Sunday show. Now we can watch the Sunday show at home. Also I just realized this morning that this Saturday will be the 21st anniversary of GD's last show -- guess it will be nice being up there seeing Weir,Hart, and Kreutzmann.

Happy 4th of July, all you V.C.ers from the US!

Small parade down the main street of my village -- all the kids/adults ride their bikes/scooters/strollers or walk --- very low key but fun for all -- ending in the village's center with fire trucks holding up the flag with its big ladders. The fire department put it on every year. -
Figures the Indians would pull it out... Go White Sox!

Posted the below in another thread. I saw Weir and Wasserman play in a shed too - think it was 92, with Michelle Shocked and others on the bill. The place (the horrible World Music Theater) was pretty empty. Great show, though. Just found the setlist. 7/16/92 World Music Theatre, Tinley Park, IL Bombs Away>Take Me to the River, Twilight Time, KC Moan, Witchcraft, Eternity, When I Paint My Masterpiece, Fly Away, This Time Forever>Shade of Grey, The Winners>Heaven Help the Fool>Bass Solo>Victim Or the Crime>Josephine>Spoonful* (*w/Michelle Shocked & Bruce Cockburn
