  1. I want to catch them play, but every time they pass through Chicago they play at a notoriously bad sounding venue.
  2. Got two for the Chicago show -- should be a nice date night with wife.
  3. The Cubs/Cards series definitely will be a good one -- too bad it's only best of five.
  4. A couple of nights ago I checked out from my library Cheap Trick's 30th Anniversary of Budokan! which included the DVD the April 30, 1978 Budokan performance -- it was fun to watch. I use to have the record as kid - like everyone else who grew up in the late 70s - besides the big hits (Surrender, etc), I didn't remember many of the songs at all.
  5. Sounds like a great organization -- should be a delightful evening.
  6. Didn't even realize that Savage had a podcast --- that gun segment was a good one - it seemed perfectly reasonable. Just started to watch that HBO's Newsroom show - I am always about 3-4 years behind everything - anyway the last episode I watched discussed the period when the NRA and others trumped up the notion that President Obama was going to take all the guns away once he was elected and took the Oath of Office - right out the gate this debate was off-kilter, badly.
  7. Ha! --- just watched it - that was a bit of fun.
  8. Or play it live at the beginning and one member can simply create some feedback or interlude between the tunes while others trade off instruments - perfect opportunity for Mikael. I agree with jff - bit of a lame excuse. I think the change of instruments can happen in about 8 seconds with Wilco's tight crew.
  9. So much for an early 80s show: Dave's Picks Volume 16: Springfield Civic Center, Springfield, MA 3/28/73
  10. Did you take it to Golden Frets? Use to go play guitars there all the time - don't think I ever bought anything there, except strings. I use to have a Fender Bassman amplifier head and Kustom speaker cabinet - it was at my friend's basement who was killed in a motorcycle accident - didn't really want to go back over to his house to grab it after his death - mostly because I wasn't particularly fond of his roommates.
  11. I always enjoyed the live in studio performances on the Sky Blue Sky bonus DVD that came with the cd. I haven't watched it in awhile, though.
  12. Speaking of books, noticed that my library has the below - probably will get around to read it at some point - heard decent things about it.
  13. The below was the 1st book I think I read on Dylan - it was a long while ago, but I remember it being pretty decent.
  14. Maybe making bullets out of rubber is the answer. Might loose a few eyes and many may get bruised and battered - but they probably would survive. Plus shooters may start feeling foolish spraying a bunch of rubber bullets all around and stop doing it all together. Companies can still make money, though.
  15. Yeah - that would be a good pick, too.
  16. "It's all one song," says Neil Young --- so I guess one can pick any one - my pick would be "Cortez the Killer."
  17. I think they also register cars so that they can be traced back to the owner if stolen and/or used in a crime. Also cars are registered for insurance proposes, I suppose too - so the state can ensure that the owners have some type of liability insurance. Curious to know if gun owners have to tell their insurance company that they own a gun, like they do if they own certain dog breeds (for home owner insurance purposes)?
  18. As a democracy, it's the only way it can be done, though. Vote people in / vote people out - hopefully the system of laws can and will change. How else can it be done in this country? One can bury the head in the sand and do nothing - thinking their vote is not gonna change anything - which is exactly what big business and others wants people/voters to think. Also saw my second Bernie bumper sticker in my neighborhood -- one of those round "Feel the Bern" ones - clever - and again the car was driven by a women - so my neighborhood score card is two (2) Bernie's and zero (0) Clinton's. And
  19. Last night's setlist from Oslo - first night of the tour. Seven Frank related tunes - he is turning into quite the crooner. A couple that were not even on his latest record. Like that he ended the show with "Love Sick"
  20. Another tune I always liked from the gospel era is "Ye Shall Be Changed", off the first Bootleg box --- a preachy as all hell tune, though, but the melody and music works.
  21. I am still convinced that the 'Columbia recording artist - Bob Dylan' intro to every show, at least since the 90s, is because they know someone is taping the show and at least they want people to hear record company's name on it. Besides the Dead - I can't think of a group/person who is booted more. I know a few people who still tape Dylan shows. They always were a ball cap to the shows
  22. http://www.dylanradio.com/ DylanRadio.com plays lots of songs from bootlegs --- the site is not like Owl and Bear at all, though. Plus, I don't think they ever play complete shows all the way through.
  23. I agree, if Arrieta doesn't have a 21 Win season, the Cubs would not be in the playoffs and many would be talking a lot more Lester's poor season (at least in the W/L department). Next Wednesday, the Blackhawks will be hoisting another banner at the United Center and the Cubs will be playing in a playoff game -- great night for Chicago. (too bad they won't be playing at Wrigley or least most likely won't be)
