We had three different ones topping each of the categories on our voting form --- I think the Republicans need to hold a hearing, for sure.

How did you chili do in the chili cook off - NoJ? We left before the results were given.

Compared to 8 years ago - Clinton did much better this time around. Sanders did come off a little like the "I am mad as hell" character -- i did think it was genuine, but he might want to tone it down a bit. I am sure his base loved his performance, though - those who are not fully convince by him, maybe not so much. Right now I an edging towards his camp, though. and yeah - Chafee and Webb were pretty awful.

Yeah - nor have I. I never go into a Dead related show, evening thinking I am going to an actual Grateful Dead show or anything like it -- even the FTW shows - it doesn't even make sense that one would think that. NP the below show - forgot that Kimock filled in for Karan for a bit when Mark was dealing with his cancer. Good show. https://archive.org/details/rd2007-11-08.adkA51TL.flac

Speaking of Trey and the Fare Thee Well shows - great discussion below from the New York Festival. http://blog.phish.net/1444067800/trey-anastasio-new-yorker-festival-interview

another thing about Maiden - recently checked out below -- it had to be the worst book on music ever - cut and paste job from various interviews, at least the author cited properly. I didn't bother to read any past 7th Son. At least it took me only about a 1/2 hour.

That's the time period when I was getting into them --- my aunt bought me Powerslave on cassette for Christmas.

Finally going to see Iron Maiden live -- got general admission floor tickets, too - at the United Center - should be a hoot. forgot: UP THE IRONS!!!!!!!

I want to catch them play, but every time they pass through Chicago they play at a notoriously bad sounding venue.

Got two for the Chicago show -- should be a nice date night with wife.

The Cubs/Cards series definitely will be a good one -- too bad it's only best of five.

A couple of nights ago I checked out from my library Cheap Trick's 30th Anniversary of Budokan! which included the DVD the April 30, 1978 Budokan performance -- it was fun to watch. I use to have the record as kid - like everyone else who grew up in the late 70s - besides the big hits (Surrender, etc), I didn't remember many of the songs at all.

Sounds like a great organization -- should be a delightful evening. -
Didn't even realize that Savage had a podcast --- that gun segment was a good one - it seemed perfectly reasonable. Just started to watch that HBO's Newsroom show - I am always about 3-4 years behind everything - anyway the last episode I watched discussed the period when the NRA and others trumped up the notion that President Obama was going to take all the guns away once he was elected and took the Oath of Office - right out the gate this debate was off-kilter, badly.
-
Ha! --- just watched it - that was a bit of fun.

Which Star Wars songs will become deep cuts?

Or play it live at the beginning and one member can simply create some feedback or interlude between the tunes while others trade off instruments - perfect opportunity for Mikael. I agree with jff - bit of a lame excuse. I think the change of instruments can happen in about 8 seconds with Wilco's tight crew. -
So much for an early 80s show: Dave's Picks Volume 16: Springfield Civic Center, Springfield, MA 3/28/73

Gear you had, but lost, and miss dearly

Did you take it to Golden Frets? Use to go play guitars there all the time - don't think I ever bought anything there, except strings. I use to have a Fender Bassman amplifier head and Kustom speaker cabinet - it was at my friend's basement who was killed in a motorcycle accident - didn't really want to go back over to his house to grab it after his death - mostly because I wasn't particularly fond of his roommates. -
I always enjoyed the live in studio performances on the Sky Blue Sky bonus DVD that came with the cd. I haven't watched it in awhile, though.

Speaking of books, noticed that my library has the below - probably will get around to read it at some point - heard decent things about it.

The below was the 1st book I think I read on Dylan - it was a long while ago, but I remember it being pretty decent.

Maybe making bullets out of rubber is the answer. Might loose a few eyes and many may get bruised and battered - but they probably would survive. Plus shooters may start feeling foolish spraying a bunch of rubber bullets all around and stop doing it all together. Companies can still make money, though.
-
Yeah - that would be a good pick, too.

"It's all one song," says Neil Young --- so I guess one can pick any one - my pick would be "Cortez the Killer."
