  1. Bare in mind, they were discussing Wilco The Album like it was an experimental return to form a la Yankee Hotel Foxtrot before that came out. --Mike
  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oqXVx3sBOk
  3. I haven't really studied the replay but I know when I saw the handball live, it looked to me like the ball had already crossed the line into the goal anyway.
  4. Will this be the highest rated program in cable history? Provided who he chooses doesn't leak before it goes to air, which I'd say is about 50/50, I can't imagine that anyone with cable that even sort of cares about sports isn't going to at least have this on in the end. I also can't imagine anyone enjoying ESPN's lead up to it. --Mike
  5. You aren't even factoring in the two-hour pregame LeBron announcement special ESPN is no doubt planning. --Mike

  7. The first record was on my flawless album's list. If I'd been thinking Songs for Beginners would have made an apperance also. --Mike
  8. It's time to you embrace the dark side that it is Paul McCartney. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyyEc-GNDfQ --Mike
  9. Caught the first one on Comedy Central last night. Brilliant stuff. The Bender character is just about perfect. --Mike
  10. What Goes On on Rubber Soul isn't perfect either. I think the rest of Revolver is so good it rounds Yellow Submarine up, but I get what you're saying. Band on the Run is consistently good, I don't love Mrs. Vanderbilt, and Picasso Last Words kind of drags on until the reprise part, but the rest of it's pretty tight, No Words might be the best Wings song people don't talk about. --Mike
  11. In 2003, Wilco opened a few shows on the West Coast for R.E.M. and the entire band joined Wilco for California Stars at Red Rocks. That show might be on Owl, if you're interested. --Mike
  12. Oh yeah, dude. Unfortantly only being called a d-bag is probably getting off lightly. Root for whomever you want, but you have to be careful if everyone else around you is pulling for the other team. It would be like booing a Wilco song (well a Wilco song that isn't on Wilco The Album) at a Wilco concert. --Mike
  13. McSweeney's puts out yet another "holy shit!" good fiction book. --Mike
  14. May be my favorite of Jarmusch's. --Mike
  15. I would submit Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts as the biggest flaw on an otherwise flawless album, in fact I think that might be the worst song on a truly great album. My submissions: Beatles: Rubber Soul My Bloody Valentine: Loveless Van Morrison: Astral Weeks Neutral Milk Hotel: In The Aeroplane Over The Sea Crosby, Stills and Nash: Self-Titled The Rolling Stones: Beggars Banquet. --Mike
  16. Thus far in my experience if joss ackland likes it, I, too, will like it. Time to do some illegal downloading, uh, itunes shopping... --Mike
  17. Good people, . For the past several months, we've been hard at work at the third installment of our Via Chicago tribute series, I'm The Fan Who Loves You. Read all about it here: Wilco Tribute # 3.. We need art for the disc, and will use two to three high quality photos for the front and back. We would love any photo submissions you can give us. Submissions will be judged and selected by a fine panel of experts, i.e. your moderating staff. Submit early and often either by sending me a personal message or e-mailing mpolak21@gmail.com. We're open to pretty much anything as long as I could show
  18. I don't think they'd make a single one of these albums better, but I might let Glenn re-do a Coomer/Bennett drum part here or there. --Mike
  19. Damn, I hadn't heard. Loved Wittgenstein's Mistress as well. --Mike
  20. He won 88 games in a row, 10 championships in 12 years, 7 consecutive national championships (no other team has more than two in the modern era), never had an NCAA violation and only received one technical (for something that wasn't his fault). He also probably inspired more slurpy columns by sportswriters than any other figure, but they were all well deserved. --Mike
  21. Probably Dark Neon, the itunes bonus track. --Mike
  22. It was way off, but at least WTA is in the right spot. Again for the cheap seats... AM BT ST YHF AGIB SBS WTA (yes sometimes I'd like to pretend this album didn't happen too, but it still belongs on every list). --Mike
  23. He was just absolutely the real deal, you know. Completely brilliant and genuine. What a life he lived. --Mike
  24. As anyone who's ever tried to sit through Give My Regards To Broad Street can attest, Sir Paul doesn't always have the best sense of self control in the world.
