  1. I don't understand the GBMS hate. I think it's probably one of their best.
  2. Wilco record with a mixing board, protools (or whatever they record with, probably protools) rig, engineer, outboard gear, etc etc. I know they like to record live but I'm pretty sure some parts are often re-done in overdubs and new parts are added. The songs will be mastered when you buy the record, it's just that these promos were made before the masters (pre-mastering is what it's ACTUALLY called) were finished. Mastering is the last step before a record is pressed.
  3. I normally try to ignore the people on the internet that seem to be initially disappointed with every new release, by an established band, ever. But I think Walken is a really great, FUN, song, and it pains me to see it get so much shit. Nels lap steel kills me every time. It is by far my favorite of the three (though I think they're all great and am very excited for this).
  4. Haha, well, it was extra flat. Yeah, AGIB had really good use of reverbs, these recordings feel more "live", less production.
  5. These are not demos. The thing is these aren't mastered yet. Early promos usually aren't. Anyone download Beck's Guero when it first leaked? It was flat like this is as well.
  6. I hope it's more like Jacksonville City Nights, a true country record.
  7. None of these cities are Vancouver... they're not even on the same side of the world... weak!
  8. Wasn't Charlie Louvin's new album already out for like a week?
  9. A couple reasons: 1) Bryan Adams owns the best studio in town here, The Warehouse. He's done a lot for the recording industry in Vancouver, music aside, I have nothing but the utmost respect for him. 2) Bryan Adams doesn't pretend to be a hipster and gets people like the pitchfork staff to worship him and his boring, boring songs. He is what he is and doesn't try to be anything else. However, waking up the "The Summer of 69" on the radio this morning kind of started my day off on the wrong foot. Haha, you made me laugh out loud, my friend!
  10. Totally! Who will play Billy Bragg?
  11. I always thought indie snobs were the people that loved this band. I'm ashamed they are from Canada You guys got Bush, we got Win.
  12. How the fuck did "Dreamgirls" win anything? That was hands down the worst movie since "The Day After Tomorrow".
  13. Look in the liner notes of Being There, it gives that guy credit, I was just making a point that there is no album in which Tweedy wrote 100%. And I'm glad that guy's gone.
  14. Ox! Good band, good band. I have nothing but respect for them.
  15. Gah, why do bands always go to Seattle but not Vancouver? Forget you, Gibbard!
  16. I've always been kind of iffy about The Arcade Fire and then I started watching their performance and I was like "yeah they're pretty good". Then he went and smashed that guitar and yeah..... However, Rainn Wilson = hillarious!
  17. No, everything is disc. Just like your precious frisbee is a disc.
  18. Did anyone see them on SNL last night? The singer smashed his guitar
  19. "all songs written by Jeff Tweedy ...except Misunderstood....."
  20. You are a lucky man for getting to see that... All I know is that, Iron & Wine's third album is one of my most anticipated releases of the year.
