  1. I currently don't have a proper midi controller but I have some programs on my lap top I'd like to run. Does anyone know where I can get a program that can enable my keyboard (keyboard as in letters that I'm currently typing with) as a controller? so I can have A set up as A, W as Bb, D as B, F as C, T as C# (you guys see the pattern..). Any help would be great!
  2. I thought he sounded in an ass in the Wilco movie. It seemed like he didn't even know exactly what point he was making "it's like.... you know".
  3. I saw him open for the Foo Fighters and he almost ruined the night for me, had it not been for My Morning Jacket.
  4. Is it just me or is Sloan one of the best acts to come out of Canada since Neil Young? p.s. this new stuff sounds great! Much better then Action Pact!
  5. "Uncle Tupelo to reunite" OR "Wilco to tour west coast Canada" yeeeaaaah!
  6. That's not true. Always mix on two different set of speakers, as every speaker has a different frequency responce. If you're going to do that approach, play it on two different boomboxes or whatever, and make it sound good on both, not great on one and mediocre on the other. Any studio you go into, will have a good set a speakers (these ones usually get used the most) and then a mediocre set. Just mix on one set and then put it through the other and adjust it a bit, so you meet halfway, you know?
  7. Instead of bickering about whether or not a song that doesn't fit the concept of an album should be included on said album (wtf?) I'll post an mp3 of When The Roses Bloom Again from the KCRW performance that some kind soul sent me yesterday. Click here! I hope that works!
  8. Matt Sharp - Somedays It's so dark and beautiful.
  9. I'd really like to get an mp3 of the KCRW performance (or a similar one!) of this one. Nels lap steel makes my icy heart melt.

    Gun

Apparently not!!! (Unless this was posted in another topic?? It won't let me search for just "Gun"!)
  11. Iron & Wine - The Trapeze Swinger beautiful beautiful beautiful
  12. Yeah but it's still a contender for the new album isn't it?
  13. XO, every song on it is flawless. Either/Or is up there too.
  14. Ehh, I prefer lap steel. Lots of the stuff Nels does on lap steel is better then most things most pedal steel players are doing these days. One by One is a great example, his lap steel bits on Kicking Television are far better then the pedal steel bits Bob Egan did on the Mermaid Avenue album.
  15. I am very jealous of jdlee23's moog. Here's my gear. The piano is actually my families but it's mine once I get my own place. The little peavy amp is actually just my brothers but he didn't use it so I use to use it as a practice amp in my rec room. Since this picture was taken I got a banjo.
  16. I'm sick of these bands with stupid names.
  17. And while they're in Seattle they should go on up to Vancouver!
  18. Yeah, never ever ever mix with headphones. I learned that the hard way.
  19. I recomend getting two pairs. One pair good, one pair bad. Sure it's nice to have great speakers but keep in mind when you're mixing, most people will be listening to it on their tiny shitty speakers, so you want to make it sound as best as you can on them.
  20. They'll grow out if it. I changed musical tastes 4 or 5 times before I settled onto the kinds of music I listen to now. Plus I can think of bands much worse then Bright Eyes to be listening to. Slipknot, Nickelback, and Anti-Flag come to mind.
