Seeing Spencer argue with his band mate about the poster deffinetly reminded me of watching Jeff argue with Jay about the intro of "Heavy Metal Drummer". A chip off the old block indeed!

Just to get another opinion here, I didn't really like it. I thought the song writing wasn't too great. However the song "Rise Up With Fists" is extremely good.

Is that a moogfooger?!?! I think it is!

What's with the hate? I Am Trying To Break Your Heart is a great, honest, look at the music industry. It has a great story line too it (Sam Jones got incredibly lucky), it's shot beautifuly, the performaces are great, and, atleast, I think it's really interesting watching Wilco work in the studio.

Mermaid Avenue III with the current line up.

Uh no. Find some nice folk songs. Iron & Wine has some really easy fingerpicking.

I'm probably one of the only people in the world that considers Sharp a better songwriter then Cuomo. But anyways, Seven More Minutes is epic. It's a celebration. Matt really emerged as a songwriter on it. It's so diverse. I love how there can be songs as different as "Big Daddy C" and "She Says It's Alright" on the same album but it still feels like one piece of artwork. I could probably talk all day about why "Overlee" and "My Head Is In The Sun" are masterpieces. As for his solo album... it really pisses me off that no one was really into it. I don't think people gave it enough attention, t

Haha, I'd totally do that if I could. I need a harmonica if F# as well but I don't think they pay you in Canada.

I go to "recording school" and that's pretty much what we use (along with reason). What I mean is for my own personal home use. I want to turn my typing keyboard (QWERTYUIOP etc) into a midi controller, just for convience factor (and I don't really have the money right now to dish out). I know it's possible, I've done it at school but that's on Macs.
-
I currently don't have a proper midi controller but I have some programs on my lap top I'd like to run. Does anyone know where I can get a program that can enable my keyboard (keyboard as in letters that I'm currently typing with) as a controller? so I can have A set up as A, W as Bb, D as B, F as C, T as C# (you guys see the pattern..). Any help would be great!

I thought he sounded in an ass in the Wilco movie. It seemed like he didn't even know exactly what point he was making "it's like.... you know".
-
I saw him open for the Foo Fighters and he almost ruined the night for me, had it not been for My Morning Jacket.
-
Is it just me or is Sloan one of the best acts to come out of Canada since Neil Young? p.s. this new stuff sounds great! Much better then Action Pact!

"Uncle Tupelo to reunite" OR "Wilco to tour west coast Canada" yeeeaaaah! -
That's not true. Always mix on two different set of speakers, as every speaker has a different frequency responce. If you're going to do that approach, play it on two different boomboxes or whatever, and make it sound good on both, not great on one and mediocre on the other. Any studio you go into, will have a good set a speakers (these ones usually get used the most) and then a mediocre set. Just mix on one set and then put it through the other and adjust it a bit, so you meet halfway, you know?

Instead of bickering about whether or not a song that doesn't fit the concept of an album should be included on said album (wtf?) I'll post an mp3 of When The Roses Bloom Again from the KCRW performance that some kind soul sent me yesterday. Click here! I hope that works!

Awesome!

Matt Sharp - Somedays It's so dark and beautiful.

I'd really like to get an mp3 of the KCRW performance (or a similar one!) of this one. Nels lap steel makes my icy heart melt.

Apparently not!!! (Unless this was posted in another topic?? It won't let me search for just "Gun"!)
