I watched the first four episodes of High Fidelity tonight. It's essentially the same thing as the original... but with millennials! Which is pretty good. Characters have been adapted and morphed in interesting ways like Jack Black's character becoming Da'Vine Joy Randolph's character. The show is at its best when it's either doing its own thing entirely or taking inspiration from the movie, like when someone tries to buy a Michael Jackson record instead of the I Just Called To Say I Love You scene or the dinner scene with Rob's ex Kat (Charlie in the film) being filled with vain social media

Great video and perfect song to capture. How many bands have a drummer who's also that good of a songwriter??

Niiice! Let us know how the show goes!

Ooops. Mixing up with the two Oakland shows, which in my rudimentary geographical understanding of the US... it is essentially the same thing as San Fran (right?) not to mention the two Vic shows which just got announced as well. I guess in my head, I just assumed these were two shows. Plus I should never be posting just before bed, BAD idea. I am, as always, NOT in the know on anything. Here is a genuine Canadian apology: sorry.

I wonder why they just dropped two ONE Fillmore performances out of nowhere like that? I would have thought they would have announced this with the rest of the March shows a few months ago.

Calexico and Iron & Wine

Kacy and Clayton opening for Wilco in Winnipeg, since there's no Saskatchewan shows that sort of almost makes it a home town show for them... nice.

??? Why are you still taking shots at me??

I'm surprised the vinyl pressing process (from laquer to record pressing) hasn't been modernized at any point with the advent of technology like 3D printing, best case scenario maybe this will force some techniques (without, you know, ruining the sound!!), especially since so much of the equipment involved with making records is very old and simply being maintained now. It'll be a few months before us consumers feel the affects of this but hopefully the industry bounces back quickly. This could hurt labels, stores, and bands... especially bands like Wilco who have a dedicated base buying vinyl

What accusations?? Where was I rude? All I did was ask questions and lay out the timeline. I don't know anything about your films or how you run your business. As a backer, someone who helped pay for your movie, I'd expect more regular updates, especially when the original estimated release date comes and goes. I shouldn't have to resort to getting in an online argument with the director to find out it's "next in line".

"If I bother to read it??" Is this how you talk to your backers?? That's awfully rude. Let's break this down. I've worked in media my entire adult life, I'm well aware how much a documentary film costs to make. (Especially in 2020 with the high quality affordable DSLR cameras + LED lights and easy access to Adobe Premiere / After Effects.) So I don't know what you're trying to prove? My point when referencing the similar line in your second Kickstarter is you haven't explained how the project will scale if you don't meet your funding. Currently, the new Kickstarter is at $3160 CAD of a $996

I hate to do a repeat of the Wilcopedia topic, but.... I backed the initial Kickstarter, coming on three years ago now, and I have to be honest, I've been pretty disappointed with the lack of updates. Especially since some of the few updates we have received have been promoting the filmmaker's other movies. For instance, in March 2018 he posted two updates, one saying they found new interviews of Jay and the other promoting a Kickstarter for an unrelated move. Then eight months later, we were told they were in the process of shooting a few more interviews and cutting the film. No updates to Ki

Had a flight yesterday and watched Joker. A shit film for wankers. It's basically incel the movie. We get it, society is mean to this guy. I understood that after 20 minutes, and then the film reiterated this over and over for the next 2 hours. Also, it's another Hollywood film that helps stigmatize mental illness. Great job, WB.

The fact that David Berman wasn't honoured in the In Memoriam tells you everything you need to know about the Grammys.

I think there was a comment in an interview from Jeff alluding to the album after Ode to Joy, this was months before OTJ came out. But mostly I was just going off how prolific Jeff has been recently.

I'm almost certainly in for the Minnesota show. It's nice that it's on a Saturday, I can drive there on the day of and go home the next day. I suppose this likely means we won't be getting another Winter-prelude in Saint Paul this year? Was kind of hoping there would be one if we got another fall Wilco album.

Dual citizen, still a Canadian. And I swear, if you guys start putting him on your list of best US songwriters, I'm going to FLIP OUT!

Great pictures Tim! What did the rest of Jeff's shirt say?

How I (and you?) Discovered Uncle Tupelo / Wilco
TCP replied to bustedafternoon's topic in Just A Fan
I found mp3s of War on War, Heavy Metal Drummer, and Hummingbird. I can't remember why. I do remember that Wilco was one of those bands I read a lot about in 2003-2004, when I was getting into other "indie" music like Pavement, Elliott Smith, The Postal Service, etc. War on War was definitely the first song that clicked with me, I liked the acoustic rhythm guitars, that was a sound I was looking for but had trouble finding previously. These days that sort of thing isn't that special but fortunately there was a lot more I found interesting about Wilco's sound. -
Aw man, talk about having some FOMO, that setlist is great! The crowd looked pretty small from what photos I could find on social media. And of course I love CB and that 75 minute set is longer than what we got at Solid Sound, IIRC. Interesting point of the minimal Wilco regulars. It's cool to see a few VCers in attendance but I can count on one hand the number of fans I personally know there, which was not the case for the Saint Paul shows or the Winterlude shows. Unfortunately the exchange rate was just not favourable for such an investment for this Canuck. I did try to talk Mrs. TCP into it

I finished season 3 of The Crown. What a way to tell the story of the 20th century. There was a lot of things I wasn't aware of either, like the disaster in Wales. Even as a socialist, anti-monarchist Canadian, I have to admit I find Queen Liz a compelling character. I agree with this BUT... I also liked having standalone problem-of-the-week episodes. TV is so serialized these days it was refreshing having a few episodic episodes, even if elements from those episodes did come together in the last few episodes. Nice!! Check out this video if you want some of the slang applied. Some of t

Maybe? I mean, an encyclopedias typically don't give opinions. Maybe someone who has it can comment.

I'm sorry, I was stressed at work and came across more defensive than I should have! Fair enough. Someone should start a Wilco wiki. .....Not me though!
