  1. Everybody now: :badger :badger :badger
  2. It's goin'. Must be a new Wilco tune. Jeff sounds "off," no?
  3. Scott Spiezio on the lam?: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=mlb Speizio now released from STL: http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=mlb
  4. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Where do I sign?
  5. Maybe they'll supply DQ Blizzards to the throngs in line for the re-scheduled show. Or a swimming pool.
  6. Picked it up last weekend and am about 45-50 pages in. I like his writing. This caused me to put the book down and think about it on the bus to work today, referring to his own writing: "But the thing about remembering is that you don't forget. You take your material where you find it, which is in your life, at the intersection of past and present." It goes on into more traffic comparisons, but a great analogy I thought. I had a good feeling about the book before I even started as he's sporting a Red Sox cap on the author's page in the back.
  7. Nirvana did a sweet version. Go to youtube if interested.
  8. I've always thought they could probably do justice to some CCR tunes, like "Around the Bend," "Lodi," Travelling Band," or Have You Ever Seen The Rain," or "Sweet Hitchhiker." Maybe a nice, long CCR-style "Heard it Through the Grapevine."
  9. Good hotels will often refund money for a cancellation. Tact and politeness can go a long way.
  10. But he said he thought it was the ball. You don't believe him?
  11. The version of "I'm Always in Love" with the slower/alternate strumming (see: OuttaPrint (OuttaSite) and Complete Singles compilations). Probably my favorite Wilco-related piece of music.
  12. I thought he hit Ross Perot lunatic fringe/comic relief territory years ago.
  13. Your ticket is refundable and I'd check into getting a refund for the hotel. Some places will refund the money given at least 24-48 hrs. notice.
  14. The Justice Department has been recommended to look into criminal charges of perjury concerning Clemens' testimony: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3264533
  15. And he's no spring chicken. He's had his share of injuries like most other 35-year-+-old pitchers have. Plus, he makes a million bucks if he makes the roster . If he shows some decent signs of his form 2 years ago he's right back in it.
  16. Good list. I particularly like Old Hickory's quote: "I have only two regrets: I didn't shoot Henry Clay and I didn't hang John C. Calhoun." And John Q. Adams' quote works great if you say it aloud in Mr. Potter's (from It's a Wonderful Life, whom he uncannily looks like in the photo) voice: "The art of making love, muffled up in furs, in the open air, with the thermometer at Zero, is a Yankee invention."
  17. Francona gets a 3-yr./guaranteed $12 M contract extension: http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/basebal...ticleid=1075666
  18. I like it. Minor-league contract and see how he does in pre-season. If he's still got it he's a good fit for the rotation with Schilling out and Wakefield's injury concerns. If not, no big deal.
