  1. That is an ODD couple. Rhett is such a showman. Jay just stands there and plays songs.
  2. I feel you pain, man. A steady diet of ibuprofen over here.
  3. I have some old VHS. Probably will get rid of most of the commercial ones next time we move. Lots of personal ones. I shipped one to a friend a few years ago. He was going to digitize it. It was erased in the mailing process. Don't email VHS.
  4. Clickhole is published by The Onion. They usually make me chuckle.
  5. I had a buddy who used to say -- and became -- CD free by 2003. I still buy the stupid things feom time to time.
  6. Saw Blues Brothers on the big screen tonight at a theater / brew pub. Hot DAMN! I was lucky enough to have my parents take me to that on its original release. I was 9 years old. My twins are 9 now. I don't think they're interested in R-Rated movies in the least. Good beer, great movie, great music, great night. I wanted to get up and dance during the concert scene.
  7. They did do some dates on Bob Dylan's Americanarama tour together. I think they shared the stage once or twice on that.
  8. Just listened to that story on NPR. Wow.
  9. Standing next to Bob Mould at a Richard Thompson First Avenue show, asking him he was going on stage to join him for "Turning of the Tide" which he'd covered recently on a tribute. He laughed it off and said he doesn't belong on on the same stage.

  11. I'm pretty content with Wilco fan. Serendipity
  12. Probably shared some of these before. 1. Lyle Lovett last May, Hoyt Sherman Place, Des Moines, IA - I requested "Friend of the Devil" on Facebook. He started telling the story about recording it, and in the middle of the story he abruptly mentions this is for Pete and asked for me to yell out my last name. I was a bit reticent, but eventually did. Unforgettable. 2. Bob Mould - September '96, Maintenance Shop, Ames, IA - The opening act, Jason (Narducy) & Alison (Chesley), were an acoustic guitar/cello duo who had just formed a full band called Verbow. Bob produced their first LP. They
  13. That was like the Sgt. Pepper album cover but with real people.
  14. Jason Isbell in Des Moines in June. Go see him if you have the chance.
  15. True, but the tanking of their economy and their currency will change their tune sooner rather than later, I think. Putin may dig in his heels, but I think he'll figure it out.
  16. I really thought they might go out with Jeff saying, "Not only this this the last show of the Winterlude, but it's the last show that we'll ever do." And go into a cover of Bowie's "Rock and Roll Suicide" leaving the entire audience scrambling for refunds on their Solid Sound tickets, hotels, airfare, etc.
  17. Gerald Ford knew a thing or two about this.
