I am digging both Foxygen and Phosphorescent. Pretty good modern take on a retro 60s vibe. Django Django has this as well.

I once picked up a Beatles white Swan label 45 for a dollar (for non-nerds, any Beatle record not on Capitol or Apple is collectible due to small quantities; issued pre-Beatlemania).

As much as I disagree with homopobia and bigotry, I still feel there is a place in music for an artist to express a message (whether you agree with the message of not). This tradition dates back to (at least) Woody Guthrie. I get the "shut up and play" perspective, but I appreciate Steve Earle's rants and Bright Eyes "President Talks to God" type stuff. It is just unusual for an artist to be so ... unprogressive, isn't it?

I am so glad you guys like MJH. One of my favorites and always an inspiration. Always amazed at those fingers. I am so grateful for this digital age that we live that there is something like youtube that can document (and make readily available) these types of videos. In my younger days, I had to use my imagination about envisioning what his fingers are doing (when I first heard MJH, I swore that there were two guitarists playing!). It is astounding how much he does with so little movement (and seemingly so little effort) of the right hand. But it his left hand that is impossible to emulate. G
