Your musical Road to Damascus moment
anthony replied to Sweet Papa Crimbo's topic in Someone Else's Song
I had an epiphany of sorts with respect to Radiohead. (... a quick aside: I had a friend who was convinced Paul did not REALLY convert. The theory is that as a staunch anti-christian, Paul realized he couldn't win. So he adopted the 'cant beat em, join em' tactic. He made up an epiphany, joined the ranks and led them down the path that he wanted. If you look at it, biblical Paul was much stauncher and stuffier than touchy-feely hippie Jesus. Paul joined the team and subsequently led the team away from all the love stuff towards Westboro territory. Anyway, I digress ...) My Radiohead epipha -

Wow. Less Than You Think as Opener. Awesome -
Holy shit. Netflix Streaming just added a bunch of Adult Swim shows. How am I supposed to get anything done now?

I am digging both Foxygen and Phosphorescent. Pretty good modern take on a retro 60s vibe. Django Django has this as well.

I once picked up a Beatles white Swan label 45 for a dollar (for non-nerds, any Beatle record not on Capitol or Apple is collectible due to small quantities; issued pre-Beatlemania).

Michelle Shocked - born again, homophobic bigot?
anthony replied to Oil Can Boyd's topic in Someone Else's Song
As much as I disagree with homopobia and bigotry, I still feel there is a place in music for an artist to express a message (whether you agree with the message of not). This tradition dates back to (at least) Woody Guthrie. I get the "shut up and play" perspective, but I appreciate Steve Earle's rants and Bright Eyes "President Talks to God" type stuff. It is just unusual for an artist to be so ... unprogressive, isn't it? -
I am so glad you guys like MJH. One of my favorites and always an inspiration. Always amazed at those fingers. I am so grateful for this digital age that we live that there is something like youtube that can document (and make readily available) these types of videos. In my younger days, I had to use my imagination about envisioning what his fingers are doing (when I first heard MJH, I swore that there were two guitarists playing!). It is astounding how much he does with so little movement (and seemingly so little effort) of the right hand. But it his left hand that is impossible to emulate. G

The list is out. Some interesting stuff on it, for sure. Cassettes? Really? Not too sure about that one. We can all argue about MP3 v FLAC v vinyl v CD, but no one is nostalgic for tapes, are they?

I kinda regret not going to Dead show and dropping acid when I had the chance. I Would've sat near Phil.

Well, honestly not sure. Once the cards where outed as faked, the whole thing began to reek of prank. Either way, I still feel trolled...

Saving for my dream guitar -- tempted by another

Mex-built Fenders enjoy a decent reputation, from what I read on the interwebs. Plus, I just love the look of rosewood fret board paired with candy apple red. -

I can't believe the reddit safe was a fake.

No problem, my friend. I think this is the true purpose of message boards like these: share music that we love with other like-minded (virtual) friends. Thanks for the Karma.
