I have this one which is pretty similar I would guess. LouieB

Both the Yazoo and JSP sets are both good. JSP not so good on notes, but Yazoo is excellent all around. LouieB

Not exactly a blues record but the complete works of Henry Thomas on Yazoo is something I had not had before and enjoying. As long as we are talking about Magic Sam, this additional Delmark disk of live material is also quite good. Like every other musician, John Lee Hooker can certainly have a new album out despite being dead for several years. LouieB

The only thing I can say for certain about Thurston Moore's new album is that it is kind of clever that he put vinyl surface noise on one side of his new LPs. I think it is put there intentionally because the other three sides don't have it. His new album is pleasent enough. LouieB

I hit the stream a few times unsuccessfully and started over, so I guess that accounts for some some hits too. LouieB

Really. From a couple listens this is a really good album from a really good band, which shows a modicum of originality, plays to the bands strengths, and has enough enough to keep us interested and not pissed off. For a band approaching 20 years in business what else can you expect? Everyone in the band sounds great (particularly John, although Nels particular style seems submerged), the songs are good, the singing is great, there is enough pathos to keep people moved, there is plenty to keep the Radiohead fans on board, plenty for the dads, nice effects and keyboards (the ghost of Jay Be

Sounds good to me. Better than W(TA). It's just so nice to get a new album. The art of almost sounds like "I can stand the rain" by Tina Turner. John seems to be really up in the mix. Nice!!! LouieB

The Whole Love: Speculation and (eventual) reactions

Even I know who St. Vincent is. LouieB -
Not sure how old you are but I do. When you consider that way back people used to have to pay 75 cents or a dollar for a 78 RPM we are actually getting a bargain with this box set. Back in the 1920s and 30 and 40s that was a ton of dough for two songs. LouieB

I think that it is good that they are finally releasing this massive box set and all the material from Smile. it only seems right that the surviving Beach Boys should reap the financial reward from this while they are still alive. Hell, it is only fair for the surviving Beach Boy fans to be able to hear this stuff too before they croak. Then again had they released this prior to the remake of Smile, it would not have been necessary for Brian Wilson to remake it. LouieB

Wilco is releasing a new album?????????? LouieB -
I guess this was inevitable. . LouieB NY Times article David Honeyboy Edwards, Delta Bluesman, Dies at 96 By BILL FRISKICS-WARREN , believed to have been the oldest surviving member of the first generation of Delta blues singers, died on Monday at his home in Chicago. He was 96.His death was announced by his manager, Michael Frank. Mr. Edwards’s career spanned nearly the entire recorded history of the blues, from its early years in the Mississippi Delta to its migration to the nightclubs of Chicago and its emergence as an international phenomenon. Over eight decades Mr. Edwards k

Bashing Bragg is just too easy. It may be hard for folks to remember, but it was Bragg who brought the young Wilco into this project and they gained alot of fans by doing it. Billy could have just as easily put togther his own band and left Wilco out completely. The results are astonishing in most respects, but this was a group effort after all. A complete session box set certainly is in order and will be welcom. LouieB

She is out and about at shows and other events from time to time. I have not seen this movie either. I guess I should give it a spin. LouieB

Looks cool. Since they didn't have a very long career, one would expect all the hits. 1980 seems SO long ago now. LouieB

I have liked Billy from a way back. Many Wilco fans are too hard on him. He is a very fun performer. LouieB

I sure hope the DVD is NOT included with any set. I bought it and watched it a couple times and sure don't want to buy it again. I would buy the CDs again (but would rather have vinyl) if it has lots of unreleased material with it. LouieB

Sir Paul's Crusade Against the Evil Meat Empire
LouieB replied to sonicshoulder's topic in Someone Else's Song
I think he is entitled to ask for no meat at his shows. On the other hand, I think we should ask for his real hair at shows. LouieB -
I think I predicted this box set several years ago. It only makes sense. Not all the material is in one place and it hasn't been repackaged so we can all re-buy it yet. LouieB

I am happy with any record I want on any grade I can get. LouieB

There will be another album come out by her you can be sure. They will cobble together whatever she was doing and release it, a la Jeff Buckley, etc. LouieB

Why am I not surprised. Sad though. She had it all going on for a bit. Clearly she wasn't going anywhere fast anymore though. LouieB

I suspect this guy is struggling to get customers. People are curious about this stuff and so he is out to make a buck. Frankly going by the Wilco loft isn't that big a deal. Most Chicagoans know where it is anyway. For better or worse Jeff Tweedy is a Chicago celeb. (The Wilco loft has more of an identifier on it than CHIRP radio which no one cares where it is.) (Hell I have run a few folks by the loft for free....and the world didn't stop!!) Also my understanding is that this tour does go places that are active, certainly by bars and clubs that are still in use. LouieB

I gotta order some of this...Sadies and John Doe particularly. LouieB
