  1. Now you are talking..... Beach Boys...not the greatest band of all time...that would still be the Beatles... LouieB
  2. From Chicago, but I am fed up with deep dish......for real. LouieB
  3. The beauty of Amazon is I just got three Marah albums for $17 including shipping. I know the group gets squat, but someone once bought them. I plan to see them in January so I will buy some real merch then. I have wanted the new vinyl EP so I guess that could make up for my bad faith buying these things used. LoueiB
  4. Four Bowl of Fire, four solo (one so obscure it is out of print), he is on two Kevin O'Donnell records which don't count and also didn't he do one additional album of kids songs? LouieB
  5. Cut the Crap is the one I have....thanks, LouieB
  6. As someone who only owns one of their albums, which two are the best? I like Marah..they are kind of an indie rock jug band.... LouieB
  7. Rolling Stone must have an entire department dedicated to stupid lists. LouieB
  8. Okay sorry, I was sort of curious where this came from. He did play with Joni Mitchell and other rock artists, but was a difficult guy when he was more together I guess. It is truly sad when someone with so much talent just goes completely off the tracks like he did. LouieB
  9. As long as Paul Giamatti plays me as he played Harvey Pekar (a great jazz critic himself) I am fine with that... Not some of the crap Giamatti has played of late..... Jake"s wonderful programming gives links directly to Amazon where many of these albums can be had at far less than list price used through the dealers. A great way to get a bunch of music cheap. 10. I KNOW he is dead..i was being facetious......thanks for the blow by blow of his last horrid days...one more reason not to do hard drugs...etc. Just not sure why we are celebrating the poor guys birthday.... LouieB
  11. One of my personal faves of the year....but then.... Yea, me either... I don't believe that for a minute...... LouieB
  12. Mine too. He used to show up to jazz with friends back during the 80s when he lived here. Sadly I missed this show, was in Cleveland. LouieB
  13. Yup.....Samorama can't remember if I was there??? I did get there a bit late, but they played a later set as I recall, although I must admit it was such a party I may not have been concentrating that carefully. LouieB
  14. Thanks for the lengthy reply. You are clearly a jazz fan. You have no reason to take notes because you seem to know all this stuff anyway and besides it is up on Glono for awhile. Your father must have been pretty special. The reissue movement of the 70s is when I came on board and it saved much material from obscurity. I wish I had the Centenial set as well, but it was very pricey and now out of print so worth even more. Perhaps it will return someday. This is just the RCA Victor material which is certainly significant and equally as important as the Columbia stuff. It is amazing to
  15. Yea..that was true. You barely introduced yourself at that point. Let's talk offline. PM me. LouieB
  16. This entire show was great. Also it was the biggest goddam party of the night. I would swear I knew about half the audience and the other half were some fun people as well. Kudos to 2cow, their colleagues and managements for pulling this off. They may do a similar tour in the spring. They are also going to be in St. Louis on Saturday night were you can run into the former Tweedy's Gurl who will hopefully make the scene there. LouieB
  17. I don't know...in a sense (I didn't read this thread, but I did read about this in the paper even today), isn't this kind of dumb of this teacher? I know on one level it makes no sense, but on the other hand, isn't this teacher aware of her surroundings and the culture she is teaching in? She should have known better. LouieB
  18. Screw it..I am bumping this.... I got tickets, cause I wanna see some of these bands no matter where it is. Is anyone else going or am I going to be the only one there?? LouieB

Maybe too obsure?? I don't get it either... LouieB
  20. I haven't listened yet, but I doubt this will be bad. In fact I can't imagine Louris doing anything but putting out a great solo album LouieB
  21. Both Braxton and Kirk were some of the first jazz I ever saw, with Rahsaan being maybe the first significant show. I was thinking about him last night. His act was one of the most incredible things I will EVER see, bar none, which included playing three horns at once, playing through his nose and mouth at the same time, playing two instruments through each nostril at the same time doing some of the craziest shit ever including walking through the audience and out the door of the club (he was blind) and touching his chin and nose with is tongue. While all of this was more vaudville in some re
