A brief little thought after about a week and a half of returning to normal life... I've always thought that SS was as much (or more) about the people, the place, the vibe, the whole "summer camp" feel... than the line up or the music itself. The line up's tend to not match up all that well with my admittedly rather limited musical library. This year was the same in terms of line up - some very interesting and enjoyable acts, for sure, but a lot of things that I wouldn't go out of my way to see. And certainly the vibe at this year's festival was just wonderful - the "bubble" was in full for

Back home too. It's 76 gorgeous degrees with blue sky galore, which does lessen the sting of re-entry a bit. Still, sure do miss the bubble already.

Wilco- June 24- Solid Sound night 2

It did indeed rock, and was extra creepy / spooky out in the woods with a rather long intro from Jeff that sends chills all over me. It's not quite the album electric version; more of a hybrid with Jeff on acoustic, Nels on a resonator(?) and Pat on electric. Pat's guitar outro is stellar. Vince -

Poor Places > Reservations. Man, I hope that stays on the setlist for SSF!! -
No lights in my shoes, but I'll be there. Quite possibly with signage. Vince

Exactly! I like the way you think.

Good show (Joe Jackson). His pipes are still in great shape, band was good (Grahan Maby on bass!). The crowd was MUCH OLDER than I was expecting... not sure why that shocked me, but a really old crowd. Highlight was a slowed down version of Steppin' Out (like the Live 1980-86 album). New stuff was good too. Nothing on the schedule now till that festival thing next weekend. Can't wait to see everyone! Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.... sorry for the thread diversion.

Thanks! My first time; he's always been a favorite of mine but never had a chance to see him. So a bit of a bucket list guy for me. Highly underrated imo. And btw he's 63 now. Just sayin'

Wilco — 11 June 2017, Louisville, KY (Iroquois Amphitheater)

Definitely a high music-to-banter ratio last night, and a gorgeous evening for a rock show. The crowd was enthusiastic, and we thankfully didn't have any talkers over in our little pre-sale section up front on Pat's side. A couple of pretty tanked up dancer-dudes wandered down to the rail but didn't cause much commotion really. Just a great Wilco-show vibe. Jeff did mention his appreciation of the crowd, saying that Louisville was "at the top of their book" in terms of audiences. And then said that one day they'd have to show us "the book".... Another little deadpan moment was "This is a -
No Trump-punches were pulled in the show. The song "Pigs" from Animals was pure fire from Roger. Some of the audience was quite incensed and quite a few left the show. The guys right in front of me were flipping out and flipping birds at the screen when the Black Lives Matter signs showed up. The last sign was the "He's an asshole" in Spanish sign. The shower of confetti at the end was pink tickets with RESIST on them. So yeah, it's gonna be an interesting tour.
