Hmmm... my 50th birthday. I was hoping they'd play somewhere on that day, maybe build a nice weekend trip around it, but I sure wasn't hoping for Rochester NY.

I would be very supportive of an Indy or Cinci show with Andrew Bird somewhere in that early July timeframe around the Geneva and Forecastle dates... yes I would.

Highlights for me were the songs that aren't already acoustic based. ALTWYS, Bull Black Nova (thank you Paul), and Hoodoo Voodoo were really great. So Much Wine... liked that a lot too. Definitely a fun crowd and such a great show. Bosco, glad you finally got your song. You looked pretty excited. I didn't think Jeff was overly into the whole audience question thing. I'm thinking it was Sue's idea, not Jeff's. But it did prompt some great stories (the bike wreck, and his & Sue's first "date") and banter (jean jackets and hair care).

there's a cone called "comfy cone" that we found which is softer than the hard white plastic (as the name implies). It's less jarring when they run into stuff, and seems tolerable for sleeping. never tried it personally, but it works for our Cocker Spaniel.

that's a good way to put it. the new one is not radical, and I think that pretty much any of the tracks could get lost into any of the last couple records. but it's still very good music.

which song is that? I only have the cheap version without the extra's, but I wouldn't call any of the 11 on the non-deluxe record a rap song.

I'm liking it. I agree it's more straightforward at times, but there's still some of the sonic doodling that we heard in the Useless Creatures disc. It's a really nice progression and comes together well. Some great hooks, and catchy tunes in there. Looking forward to some headphone listening soon... I saw the "Here's What Happened" docu on Palladia this weekend. Not overly interesting really. No dialog or anything like that, just them playing at the barn studio thingie recording the new tunes. Kinda fun to watch them play, but not exactly insightful.

Yes. If you bought a concert ticket for him on this tour (which I did), you get the download for free. I think it might even be a day early for that. Pretty novel, I thought.

Lexington is also OK (we always seem to be on some kind of golden peninsula that repels the really brutal stuff). But as you mention ^ there was a lot of damage closeby all over the area. Glad you guys are OK. I'm sure the news will be grim as the day unfolds. Rough week in these parts, that's for sure. The warnings and preparation yesterday really were good, though, and probably helped a lot for the areas that were hit hard.

It's Just That Simple. I love hearing John sing. they put this into the rotation a couple tours back (after the residency I think), and it was blissful.

Of the fairly regular staples, I could do without Handshake Drugs, ITMWLY, I'll Fight, and War on War. I'm not at all ready to retire Shot in the Arm, but I suppose that's for that other thread.

I'm trying to make the connection here, but I'm not seeing it. Is the school expanding the Vic seating capacity as a science fair project? Are the current ticketholders going to be mysteriously shrunken on March 10th? I'm sure there are several of us who would love to grab some gold circle tix for Saturday... hope this works out!

A mini rock and roll road trip next month - Springsteen in Atlanta on the 18th, and Andrew Bird at the Ryman on the 19th.

I'm gonna side with the shoulder on this one. It's all about ME, and whether or not I can get to a Wilco show on less than a 1/4 tank of gas, and still get home by bedtime. Pandering should begin and end at home, as in MY home. So, yeah, Louisville or Cinci, or right here in Lexington would be just fine. So there.

I'd call that more of a tour-ette.

On the brighter side, there are several under $75 already. Nobody's making any money on those. Except Stubhub, of course. Helluva business model there. The whole thing really is getting out of hand. I'd vote for $100 gold circle next year, or even $150. Surprised it was only $75 this year. I haven't been for a couple years, but I don't think they overpriced / undersold any of these.
