Yeah, he always comes to mind when these sort of threads pop up: In 1984 I was hospitalized for approaching perfection Slowly screwing my way across Europe, they had to make a correction I know that a lot of what I say has been lifted off of men's room walls

Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child Thought I'd watch this before going to the Basquiat retrospective this Friday.

Beck needs to start using auto-tune and start sampling Curtis Mayfield and Ray Charles, then maybe he can enter the inspired geniuses club. Maybe also start writing lyrics along the lines of; “My apologies, are you into astrology/Cause I’m tryin’ to make it to Uranus.” If only Kanye's true talent matched his ego and arrogance, then he'd have something to spout off about. I'm pretty sure he thinks he's the most talented musician to ever grace this earth.

I dug the Sia/Kristen Wiig performance. Probably the most emotive thing I've seen Wiig do.

Yeah, same goes for me. I'd also put Magical Mystery Tour above Rubber Soul..Let It Be would be the only post Rubber Soul release that I'd rank lower. Of course all these records are amazing, so ranking them can be pretty difficult.

only have tickets for one show so far: Sleater-Kinney (03/02 Toronto, ON - Sound Academy) Plan on seeing a bunch more though.

Crap, how could I forget Television? My list will need to be revised.

Have listened to this a lot over the past few days. Definitely gonna make my top 5 of the year. Coming off at times like a modern hybrid of Sly Stone and Prince, this album is funky and beautifully produced. It's the sort of album that Prince could be making if he hadn't lost his innovative mojo over the years.

1. Swans (A sonic pummeling from start to finish, tthat was trance inducing and weirdly uplifting) 2. Courtney Barnett (She and her band played with lots of engaging, rocking energy that had me from start to finish) 3. Television (A band I never thought I'd get to see live. Verlaine still plays a mean guitar) 4. The Replacements w/The Hold Steady & Lucero (Surprisingly The Replacements aren't topping my list. A combination of a so-so venue, mediocre sound, and having seen them play better the previous year is probably the reason I suppose) 5. St. Vincent (Solidly paced and well put togethe

Enjoying this one so far. The story starts out in my hometown which was a nice surprise.

I get a kick out of time capsule pieces like The Trip or Psych-Out. Not great cinema by any stretch, but when I'm in the mood they can hit the spot. I'm thinking that B_T was probably refering to the Steve Coogan one. Which I liked, but totally get why someone else would despise it.

Colleen Green - Sock It to Me

And half the comp is from her 2012 e.p. Nevertheless, good to see this release getting some more attention here. (I met Courtney a few months back, after a show at a small club, where I'm pretty sure she caused me permanent hearing loss. Very down-to-earth and friendly girl, she deserves all the success she's getting.)

I do love that one. I"m pretty sure that came out in 2013 though, otherwise it would make my list too.

Nice! Good to see someone else digs this one.

I've got all the books, hoping to do that soon. Read Ask the Dust years ago, really loved that one.

The Paperhead - Africa Avenue

About halfway through. Getting into the Third/Sister Lovers era right now.

Love that record too. I have the Phoenix Records version from a few years back. Not sure of the source, probably vinyl I'm guessing. Hopefully this one gets a proper reissue some day.
