it was definitely around that era, no question. '94-'96 for me was my favorite era in terms of their studio output
-
someone asked me to describe it and i said Devendra Banhart fronting the Polyphonic Spree, lol
-
hah! just posted in Now Playing before i saw this. digging this record too... bummed I can't go see them on Sunday night here now :/
-
this is pretty great stuff... really bummed i can't make their show on Sunday here now
-
ah, my bad. his myspace made it seem like he was opening. either way, still cool
-
has it been mentioned that M. Ward is opening the Central Park show on August 1st?
-
LOVE Sandman, Say Please is pleasant, not too big on Dear God really... sounds like a poor take on a Gil Scott Heron song
-
totes agree. i didn't care for a lot of the huge arrangments/things on the last one, but it's totally working for me on this one so far! the horns on Smoke = AMAZING. now the problem is, how the hell do they pull this shit off live on tour? :/
-
before i saw the Dexateens and their bassist play live, i'd agree with this
-
totally accurate. a lot of the guitar tones they use are straight off of some Wings records
-
i wanna say i did... i'm really bad about ordering vinyl and letting it sit in a stack for a month or two until i get through to listening to it, but i'm pretty sure I picked this one up earlier this spring.
-
as shitty as my original CD's sound, esp. compared to the Ebett's ones, i won't feel rooked. i only paid $140 for all of the original CD's back in the 90's, i'd hope i could get like $50-60 for them all used.

right. i realize LOVE was remixed, but i just mean in the overall fullness/improvement i think it'll be pretty obvious to anyone with a half-way decent stereo setup, and VERY obvious to people with really nice setups. that's annoying that the Mono one is limited to 10k... hopefully there's decent first week sales, as i don't want to wait too long.
-
nice! i'm catching some Lolla acts in Minneapolis that weekend (Passion Pit, Bat For Lashes, Fleet Foxes/Dungen, etc.)
-
Andrew Bird is playing Schubas on 8/6 now too... damn that's a great weekend to be in Chicago DESPITE Lolla would have loved to see the Constantines/Gaslight Anthem show too
-
yeah. Conor was fucking awful then. couldn't stand him or his goatboy voice at that point. but Matt & Jim killed it
-
i'll definitely listen to them before i buy, but if the sound quality is on par with the LOVE disc, it'll be a huge upgrade.
-
yes Balcony at Roy Wilkins is pretty much awful
-
yep. i'm not even bothering with St. Paul at that price. $50+ for a $36 ticket is no better than Ticketmaster. i'll pick up a ticket at the box office for $36
-
just looked up how much i paid to see these same 4 guys play together in Minneapolis in 2004... $18. apparently that price has almost doubled every year since?
-
uhm. $65 after fees for the Minneapolis show?? fucking hell no. guess i'm glad i'm out of town. even if Jim & Matt are 2 of my favorites, that price is pretty absurd.

Let's talk about the new Fiery Furnaces album
solace replied to tongue-tied's topic in Someone Else's Song
