  1. I'm thinking Peter B won't be there -- the ads just mention Scott and Steve -- but alittle Minus 5 action would be ideal. And I imagine that Scott will be part of the + in the Jeff Tweedy +. But, Peter B and JT on the same stage --- awesome. Even though Peter Buck's new page boy hair cut is just plain bad. The man's a millionaire -- how could he let someone do this to his hair?
  2. Life long Jersey girl and I can attest that the Turnpike in Newark is pretty foul, but the rest smalls pretty nice (except my co-op after I eat chocolate.) My home town is covered with woods and populated with bear, deer and various wild life. We may not have Rocky mountain like peaks, but we got skiing. And more horse farms than Kentucky. Those shows do give us a bad rep (My niece has met Olivia & Tracy from Jerselicous, and it's all real-- but she said Olivia is very sweet) but my friends and I are not like that. Hey, I adore Wilco enough to be on their fan site. You think I'm a gui
  3. Wow, I'm jealous of your dream! Love the olfactory detail... Is it weird that I can dream of smells? Unlike Robyn Hitchock, who often dreams of trains.
  4. I lost a lot to Irritable Bowel Symdrome... like 20 pounds.
  5. The Wil-Gos???? Oh, that was lame. I apologize.
  6. Missed it! Dang. Kicking Television? Double Dang.
  7. Peter Gabriel - Here Comes the Flood Singing in the Rain - Gene Kelly!
  8. I saw Laminated Cat and I hadthat brief where I forgot where I was and thought, "Omigod...someone else knows Loose Fur!!!" Silly.
  9. I was just listing to I Am Trying to Break Your heart today and thougth how it's such an amazing way to open an album. In addition to the above Next to You -- Outlandos D'Amour, The Police Fiery Crash - Armchair Apocrypha, Andrew Bird Feeling Gravity's Pull - Fables, REM
  10. Don't know if this is a hobby, but I recently started doing stand up comedy. I took a class that's offered through Caroline's Comedy Club in NYC just to improve my public speaking skills -- as part of my Individual Development Plan (of IDP) for work. Turns out, I'm pretty good. I've done two New Talent Nights at Caroline's (Darrell Hammond was at one show and told me I was good.) And a few shows in NJ. I started as a total goof, but now it's beginning to show some progress. I've only been doing this since Nov., but other comics who've been in the biz for years tell me I'm a natural. Who kno
  11. I thought it was an amazing ending .. I cried and cried and cried. I'm happy that so many things were left unanswered because no answer is better than the wrong one. I still want to know who built the statue. As far as the Western religion references, while there were reference to other religions (which I missed cos of my teary eyes), the Christian references were in abundance throughout. Hello, Jack's Dad was Christian Shepard? I'm no Jesus freak, but did go to Catholic school, and we called Jesus the Good Shepard all the time. And the whole water - to wine thing, plus piercing his side, sa
  12. So when my niece Laura was 5, she dialed 911 from a restaurant pay phone. The police came, had quite the serious talking to with Laura -- all in a comforting, but serious tone. he took her name, phone number, address. While there were no handcuffs or patrol car, it did scare the shit out of her. But, her parents spoke with her about it after wards and assured her that she's loved and not a bad girl. And she never did it again. Also, 10 years later, she is a normal, funny, intelligent 15 year active at school and on the swim team. A little bit of a wise ass to her mother -- but that has more to
  13. Oh yeah! Driving with the top down on a warm, moonlit night listening to SBS When my nieces text/Facebook me When someone is happy to see me The smoothie guy remembering my drink (PB&J with skim milk) On a bad day when someone asks, "What's wrong." When my Mom baby talks me (hated it at 20, love it at 40) Old couples holding hands When teens are polite Customer service people who chat When my bro's golden retriever puppy nuzzles my dog-hating mom, and my mom nuzzles back. Walking through a field of cherry blossoms trees on a windy day
  14. You know, on Sonny Feeling, instead of "buried the breaks" it kind of sound like "fellated the breaks". I know this is wrong, but I had to check out the liner notes for that one -- just to confirm.
  15. Most of the time these people are GREAT -- that's why it's so aggravating that they are not listening to my request, and not seeing how important my niece's event is. Amd it does concern me that -- in our late 30s and early 40s, some equate drunk with fun. We've all be friends for 10 years, so I'm not interested in new ones, just want a little respect. I think the route is have a few beers, then demurely decline shots & wine -- which leads to migraines. And find an ally. Thanks for all the ideas -- and the nice words about my niece.
  16. So it was recently my birthday (40), and my friends want to take me our this Fri. On Saturday, I'm driving 3 hours to CT to see my niece play in a benefit concert -- BTW, this is a concert that my 16 year old niece developed on her own to raise money for Haiti. It's not a school thing, I'm overflowing with pride and do not want to miss this. So, I told my friends that I'm really looking forward to going out on Fri, but don't want to get drunk for 3 reasons: [*]Lots of alcohol can trigger a migraine (one thing I wish I did not share with JT) [*]Can't drive 3 hours and puke all day at same time
  17. Ummmmm, this is hard I think Either Way and You Are My Face are in a tight competition for the top spot. Closing in on second is another tie - Side with Seeds and Shake It Off -- which is odd cos when it came out, these were my least favorite. But now I sing along quite loudly. "The rain applauds" is the best line on the album. Then On and On and On, cos I'm a sappy girl.
  18. Totally concur. Shot's not my favoite song, but when he's screaming "bloodier than blood" I'm pogoing like mad. Excellent cardiovascular workout.
  19. Talk about simple lyrics carrying emotional weight.. how about "unlock my body and move myself to dance." For me, that line takes a nice, simple sweet song and propels it into another galaxy about the power of music. I could never put into words what music meant to me, and then I heard that line and was like... "THAT'S IT!!" (think Lucy with Schroeder at the piano.) That man so perfectly reflected how music makes me feel and why it's such a huge thing in my life. And how could it be cheesy when he manages to bring so many of us back to a simpler time? It's not cheesy or schmaltzy if it make
  20. In 2007, I drove from NJ to MA to see them at the Pines Theater.. traffic was so bad that a 3 hour drive took 5. I pretty much put the pedal to the medal for most of the drive. I arrived at the hotel, and went to leave for the show and my car made a sound that could only be described as a dragon sighing. Turned out, I blew a belt on the air conditioner. The mechanic said I had a 70% chance of getting home. Luckily, I got to the show and home okay.. and it was a kick as show. On a happy note, 2006, Starland Ballroom ..my first Wilco show. I hung out by the buses for about 2 hours after the sh
  21. They were in The Strangers! That's so funny -- cos my neice hates that movie. So much so that when she saw it she had to relate to whole movie to us over dinner, practically scene by scene. Oh yea, she also loves to tell stories. I know for you people it's not that funny, but for me it is. She just cracks me up. I'm gonna have to tell her!
  22. And it got Ted a "tricycle", if you recall. \ishful Thining was also in Criminal Minds Be Patient w/me -- Ghost Town Passenger Side - Upside of Anger Fart, far Away - True Blood
  23. Isn't everyday a bad hair day for Jeff? At least for the past year or so. Looks like he slipped with the electric razor. It kind of reminds me diring reshman in high school when I cut my own bangs. A horrible failure in cost effective, DIY hair styling.
