  1. Love the Moyer thread. Had I been drinking milk it wouldve been all over my computer when I read the rubber stuff. Thanks for the best laugh of the day! Love the Phils (winning 9-6 at the moment) Moyer is a Class Act- spends lotsa time with charities, negotiates his own contract, always has time for the fans, and is respected as a great teacher with the younger players, too. Keep the Moyer thread ALIVE!!!
  2. Great show in Lancaster, PA Friday night: Packed house, festive crowd, good and sweaty. Watt didn't disappoint with his crew: debuted lotsa new stuff, peppered with more Minutemen tunes than I've heard him play in the past. (toadies, anxious mo fo, cheerleaders, and a very very excellent version of The Glory of Man) J was having some preamp issues and Dinosaur Jr. didn't begin until about 10:45. Great sound great energy and the band represented their entire (early) catalog well- ( I think there was only one song (I Don't Wanna Go There) from the upcoming record. Lou sang lead on a fierc
  3. Just got home from the phils/Nats game w/ my son. Prior to the game there was a moment of sllence for Nick Adenhart, the Angels pitcher from Silver Spring MD. Then the jumbo tron put a huge picture of Harry up, I looked at my son and said "Oh Shit", then the announcement came.... Harry was on the tube or radio for every Phils game I ever remember. What a huge loss to the Philly community and sportsfans everywhere. Prayers to the family.
  4. I'm in the middle of season three. During a scene at Councilman C's house , Hoodoo Voodoo is playing in the background!! My apologies if this has already been mentioned. friggin GREAT television, and yes, it is my new (latest) obesession!
  5. I'm about a third of the way through IJ. It's amazing, and I have some theories where it's going, none of which are probably correct. The command and depth of language is impressive. Even the footnotes are incredibly detailed. What a great talent, what an immense loss....
  6. Buzzcocks Luna King Sunny Ade Sunshine Daydream (hampton 3/27/88)!!!!!
  7. well done, MB, you've done you're homework. and if you think gerry's getting a wooden nickel from the stealers stuff think again. lets all keep him in our prayers, hey? smile
  8. I'm watching some Irag doc on Sundance, 'No End in Sight", and it's making my unemployed state of mind crazy. they're throwing around $$ figures about the amount spent/ wasted/ invested... and now the economic package/ bailout thoughts come to me. Is it all monopoly money???? I remember when I was a kid, and had trouble reconciling the fact that if theres a national deficit, or general money issue, why didn't they just work some OT at the federal resrve and print more money? I guess it's more complicated than that. All I know is I need a J O B.
  9. Bud's a stooge! Or maybe just a self-confessed baseball geek, like the rest of us. anyhoo, it looks like my sweet collection of Arod memorobilia is now in line with the rest of my more traditional kids college/ retirement investments.... i shouldn't be surprised, but maybe i need to adjust my idealism/ cynicism balance... after all it's a game of adjustments. that being said, pitchers and catchers report this weekend, and hope springs eternal for a Phightin phillies repeat!!!!! i"m waiting for Lincecum to get hurt. I love the kid, but his mechanics defy the laws of physics.
  10. punk/ metal discussion. Maybe its the same chords played in different progressions/ tempo...? Black Flag comes to mind... maybe others, too.. i'm blanking... any suggestions? full disclosure: last week I promised to not post (i mean limit!) after midnight. guess i can't help myself..
  11. Apocalyptica's "inquisition symphony" it's a bunch of crazed cellists who cover Metallica and have some originals, too. I think theres 5 of them, and they hail from finland. A girl I used to work with turned me on to them, an unlikely source to say the least. whenever they pop up on the shuffle, i bend an ear!!
  12. now thats just uncallled for. but funny in a way!
  13. Radiohead was wonderful. Al Green delivered on time, and, umm, as much as I hate to admit it... i even enjoyed Coldplay. there. i said it.
  14. I can't even begin to contribute: thats like making a list about my kids least favorite qualities!
  15. Bruce, INC. i kinda think that sucks.
  16. jerry, j, verlaine yesyesyes. gotta mention Larry campbell and doug martch, too. great thread, makes me want to soundcheck every entry
