I've been reading my calendar, which tells me it is now 2018.

time for a new 2018 thread to document the apocalypse.

I fell asleep and missed the Yoda scene, which everyone is telling me was unbelievably awesome. Otherwise, I thought the movie was fine. It dragged during the middle third (thus my somnolence) but I thought it ended well. I have a MAD CRUSH on Rey, so that helps a lot.

I started shopping for Christmas gifts today. One down, 18 bazillion to go!

Frankin to resign "in the coming weeks" -- sounds like he's waiting for Moore to win and then will try to leverage his departure as a means to get Moore ousted. Sad to see him go, but the right thing to do.

Was listening to the Slicing up Eyeballs mix over lunch today and it's definitely worth checking out. Enough variants of traditional songs to get you in the mood, enough quirky originals to keep you guessing.

When it was one or two incidents, I was a lot more willing to give him a pass given that he admitted to it and apologized. But now that the claims keep coming, his future as a politician is toast. Which is unfortunate, because he was just starting to move into more of a national party leader. I just wish there was 1/10th of this pressure being put on Trump to also resign due to his past.

The tax deal is terrible but pretty much what I would expect from any GOP administration when they have both houses of congress. If it passes then it's incumbent upon all of us to speak out as loudly as those anti-Obamacare people have done. As for the Flynn Russia thing, I'm cautiously optimistic that this is step 2 of 100(0) as the net tightens around Trump.

Very sad. I only learned about him when he played with Westerberg in the 90s, but in discovering his solo catalog I could hear his talent. Way too young.

My new oven cooked an 18lb turkey in 90 mins and it was freaking PERFECT! And oh yeah, thankful we're all healthy and yadda-yadda.

A friend of mine had to get his hip replaced in his early 40's -- had an old tennis injury that kept getting worse. He was at the point where he was barely able to walk before he went in for surgery. Post-surgery, it's like he's an entirely new person. Works out all the time, super active, goes on a lot of vacations, seems to be loving life. (also divorced his wife and is dating someone 10-15 yrs younger than him now... coincidence? lol)

We just started season 1. Got the kids into it, too. The first episode definitely has us hooked!

My idiot cousin (who I love) just posted another insipid "it's not the guns, the problem is evil in society" article with examples of some knife attacks in China as evidence and I'm doing everything I can to bite my tongue and resist firing off a salvo that will do nothing but piss everyone off. These fucking guns...

No, it's time to move on and heal from that one. And don't forget to about it, too. That'll make everything better.
