  1. Awesome, I wondered if there was audio of that anywhere. Saw GBV in June and they did 48 songs. Swans did 6 songs last night
  2. No, have some friends that were there and told me about it though. My first time seeing Gira.
  3. Swans in Denver with Carla Bozulich opening
  4. Actually there might be something to that although more from her perspective. It's like that Isbell song: "There's a man who walks beside me / He is who I used to be / And I wonder if she sees him and confuses him with me." Maybe he has changed with becoming sober after 40 years. I know I became a grouchier bastard for awhile when I started easing up on the beer.
  5. So you are saying I'm the problem? To be fair I have people tell me they love my tone all the time but everyone elses sounds better to me.
  6. I believe Bun and John Stirratt have done some jamming together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDKxRicpvD0
  7. My stepdad was diagnosed with ALS a few years ago and is already at the point where he is confined to a wheelchair and has to use an IPAD to communicate. Just a terrible disease. He has been loving watching all the challenges on facebook. I know people are getting tired of it and starting to complain about it already but if they saw the happiness it has brought to just this one man they might reconsider complaining about it.
  8. Ah, many thanks! So she has an overdrive, a fuzz, a wah, and a tuner. She got some pretty amazing tones, and apparently the clean sound was just her amp. Why can I never get that kind of tone out of a 99 dollar fuzz?
  9. I have some friends in a cover band that learn about 5 new songs a week and are up in teh 100's. They have a big book of lyrics that's very visible on stage, some of them have the chords on them as well. Nobody seems to care and they get plenty of work. I say go for it and don't worry.
  10. Still trying to decide but will probably head to the Eric Johnson show tonight.
  11. Saw a blues guitarist named Samantha Fish that had a great tone so I took a picture of her pedals. I figured out the one on the right is a Mojohand FX Rook Overdrive, Texas edition. Middle one obviously a tuner. Any idea what the one on the left is? Edit: She was using Category 5 Amps that looked pretty nice as well.
  12. Loved that. I want one of those giant tribbles Jeff is singing into.
  13. Some great Beatles moments compiled in this thread: http://viachicago.org/topic/49650-favorite-beatle-moments/?hl=beatles&do=findComment&comment=1544892 This song is full of these moments for me but at about 2:20 when the guitar solo is peaking there is that scream and maniacal laughter before the next verse comes in:
  14. Love that version. Played along on my acoustic a few times tonight.
  15. Me too. I don't think getting Dan Auerbach to produce your record is a real attempt to be a marketing machine, at least not like a Katy Perry. She certainly came across in the RS interview as someone not interested in cashing in but who knows.
  16. Just had a coworker ask if I wanted to head to the gym and I said no, then I saw this. So no, I could be doing much better.
  17. Really growing on me (Swans - To be kind)
  18. Skipping Jason Isbell tonight because he is the opening band instead of the headliner. I understand "the hard working americans" is a super group and all that but I can't believe Isbell has to open for them.
  19. Wow, Steve Howe looks like the Crypt keeper a little bit but I assume he is still a monster on guitar? Does he do The Clap or Mood for a day or any of his acoustic stuff live these days?
  20. I would also consider Against Me! The new album is very good (Transgender Dysphoria Blues) and I really like the album "New Wave". They also have a somewhat interesting backstory which helps explain the title of the new album.
  21. http://www.rhino.com/article/celebrity-playlist-michael-j-nelson Always loved MST3000. Who knew he was such a Mats fan?
  22. Been busting through Doctor Who with my daughter for the last few months. Currently finishing up Season 4. Going to miss David Tennant although I hear his replacement is very popular. Anyways, it was great fun reading through this thread to about 2009. Will pick up after I get a few more seasons under the belt. It's funny, seemed like Rose was pretty popular with most the people here. I liked her but my wife and daughter both found her annoying.
  23. Hendrix was the only one I thought of, didn't realize about T-rex. There has to be others I assume?
  24. Yeah. Im with crow. Have not liked any post Waters Floyd so cant get too excited.
