I would agree it's up there with Straightaways for me. I like it quite a bit. I always expect way too much from Son Volt, they can't possibly live up to my expectations. Then I listen to the songs and they starting digging in. This album seems to be like that. Some really good stuff on here.

July 6 - Anniversary of some Quarry Men gig
Moss replied to Sir Stewart's topic in Someone Else's Song
Was there any basis for this or is it a wild ass guess? For some reason it rings false to me. Seems like that would have come out somehow from Lennon himself during his primal scream days or something. -
I probably did not give it enough of a chance but the new one was underwhelming to me. I need to give it more time but it's no Trace or Okemah, yes I put Okemah up with Trace, I love that album.

Just watched "You're going to miss me", a Documentary about Roky Erickson from the 13th floor elevators. It was quite good.

do you have a go-to song or riff that you play?

No problem, I was just being lazy. That may be one of the easier Replacements songs to figure out. Damn Westerberg and all his open tunings. -
Just thought I would mention, this was my daughters first ever rock concert (she turns 15 this month), I figure it was a good one to start with, even though there was quite the haze of pot smock floating around. She loved it.

I have had Ride the Fader for awhile as well but never checked anything else out, how is this one?

Wow, only $2000 for the head? That's seems pretty good for a boutique amp like this.

I looked for you at the party house as we drove by but did not see anyone outside. Maybe the rain drove you all inside?

If I had a time machine, that would be somewhere near the top of my list. Kind of gives me chills listening to the actual recording from that day. -
Anybody know what the bright red amp is that Nels has in his set up? He was using it at red rocks but I could not read the name on it.

So was it a murder suicide or what's the deal?

Hi Michelle! A hearty welcome and might I add, great pictures! I saw them at Red Rocks 2 days ago but I'm not familiar enough with them to know what songs they played (Other than when they joined Wilco for California Stars). I have liked what I heard before I saw them but now I am looking forward to digging in a bit deeper. The lead singer did say his mom was in the audience and had not been at red rocks since she saw Jimi Hendrix there in the 60's which I thought was funny.

Great Summary of the show! I was in row 10 and agree, the sound was great. People were on their feet the whole concert. What a great show. It's funny, the weather was looking just grim at first but it was absolutely perfect weather for the entire show.

That's actually what I play through, the thing is a tank. Weighs about a thousand pounds. I don't think I have ever had it above "3" at any gig, it's really loud. I have the 2x12 version and I love it. Can get great SRV sounds but it's versatile enough to play just about any song.

That is really, really cool!

Just got back from the show myself. It rained and hailed on the way there. Had absolutely perfect weather during the concert. Then hit a huge rainstorm on the way home which slowed things down. It was a good long show and I thought sounded fantastic. I was sitting in the 10th row and I thought the sound was great. I thought one nice highlight was Okkervil River joining the band for a nice version of California Stars. Jeff twirling his mic and completely missing the catch at the end during Hummingbird was pretty funny. Bull Black Nova sounded as good live as I had hoped it would. Band

Facelift has some great stuff but I do like the ones you mentioned the best. I thought the Unplugged was very good too. They are about due for the remaster treatment.

As far as I'm concerned they never put out a bad album. Even the first solo album by Jerry Cantrell (Boggy Depot) is really good.

Jimmy Page is looking better now than he did 10 years ago. Lost weight or something. Jack White looks like a vampire. I am really looking forward to this movie.

This sounds good, has the classic Alice harmonies and guitar sound.
