Fred Savage Loves Wilco. Anyone else spotted at the Greek?
gogo replied to Maghtee's topic in Just A Fan
The poster sales at Wilco's June show at the Hammerstein benefited 826NYC, and the take from this one went to 826LA. It's a great organization, I love that the Wilcos are supporters. -
Fred Savage Loves Wilco. Anyone else spotted at the Greek?

Ethan Hawke, Billy Crudup and Claire Danes were sitting not far from us at the Madison Square Garden New Years Eve show a few years ago. I did not personally see any of these people, but it was reported that Catherine Keener and James Spader were at the Greek in LA (they were also at the Greek two years ago). Also, Sandra Oh. And I think somebody else, but I forget who... The guy from The Office? Yes, I think that's who it was. -
The other counter (not me) who offered up the count of 42 from the front row was also sober, and is know for mathematical precision. We'll have to wait for the tape to confirm, but I trust the 42s.

Seriously. I don't understand some of the harsh words towards the sitters. Usually if I'm sitting at a show, I'm not doing it specifically to piss off the people around me. I promise not to tell you to sit down, please don't tell me to stand up. Having said that... I stood up for this one. I like this one because it kind of looks like Mike exploded: The rest of them, blurry and unedited as they are, are here.

That one's really cute! We had a discussion here a few years ago about fan+rock star pictures, that they always look like this: or something in that vicinity, anyway. And not that any of the Wilcos look like that in your pictures, but Mike really looks like he's as thrilled to get his picture taken with you as you are to be with him. And I like that in a rock star! Plus, Mike's haircut looks fab.

Yeah, he leaned over and said something to Nels, that seemed to be what he was saying. Yes, there was a taper there.

Hey, Colin and I were wondering if you were there. But since neither of us knows what you look like... Some of my pics: And here's the whole unedited, blurry batch: Berkeley show on Flickr Oh, and the opening acts: Pre-Show Richard Swift I'm still new with the Flickr. Let me know if any of those links don't work.

I saw some other baby pics, still trapped in a camera, last night. Lovelies all the way around!

I got some decent pictures, but mostly lousy ones! I'll post a link in a bit. Sarah, nice to meet you, and to see Colin again. And Julie, so sorry you weren't there! Sarah and I were looking for you. Hope everything's better now. We did get to see old-time VCer blis, but no dignan sighting. And we looked! No specific mention of it being the birthday show. Although there were a few hoots from the crowd. Jeff mentioned how much they enjoy playing in the Bay Area (he actually said San Francisco, but I'll toss you East Bay folks a bone on this one ). And we were very pro

Happiest of happy days to a man who can count all the way to 42! (A lot of my favorite people are turning/have turned 40 this year. Also: me. Yay 1967!)

Oh, that's lovely. I love outdoor shows.

I think this is a great example of how the meds are supposed to work. It would be great if everyone could deal with depression or anxiety issues through exercise, improved diet, meditation, talk therapy, but some people need to take the meds to get them to the point where they're able to make those choices. At that point, hopefully they can be weaned off the medication, but sometimes it's the drugs that allow people to find the coping mechanisms that work. Aside from that though, yeah, talk to your doctor about going off the meds. And talk to your doctor about alternate forms of treatment

I'll take whatever songs I get. Just looking forward to seeing everyone!

Decemberists: Long and Short of It Tour CANCELLED
gogo replied to Mrs. Peel's topic in Someone Else's Song
That looks like a pretty nice Thanksgiving weekend to me! -
There's sort of a policy about waiting for a week before requesting recordings. Keep an eye out in the Greatest Lost Track forum for announcements from tapers when they've got the show ready to distribute, or keep up with the thread for this show, lots of times the info will be posted there, too.

That's a nifty new exclamation to try out. I think I'll try using it instead of "holy crap," etc. Hee! Trish?

http://www.826national.org/ Yeah, the 826s are a very cool organization. I really enjoyed the Book Eaters show here last year. And, this Sunday is 8/26 day.

The last time they played anywhere in California was also summer 2005. They just can't play every city on every tour.

Yeah, it's entirely dependent on the venue. The Greek Theatre in Berkeley has a barrier, and the stage is really high, but the Greek in LA is about the same size, maybe just a smidge smaller, but there's no barrier and the stage is pretty low, so you can definitely get right in there.

Wendy posted some good info about musictoday's policies in this thread. They always send out tickets just a week or two before the show.
