  1. maybe uptight is the wrong word, I'm sure he's a goof offstage. I just find it hard to relax when seeing him onstage, there's a cold and intense vibe I get from him that I can't imagine working for Dead covers, but I'm looking forward to hearing it nonetheless
  2. really? I'm a fan of The National but the lead dude seems too uptight for a Dead tribute
  3. Black Angels were awesome last night, love that droning psych rock sound, especially loud as hell
  4. Black Angels tonight in Toronto. time to get my stoner sludge rock on
  5. great interview and performance last night, was a treat to watch I don't think this is the whole thing, but here's a video link posted on the CBC website http://www.cbc.ca/strombo/show-video/web-exclusive-jeff-tweedy-on-connecting-through-music.html
  6. I watched Hobo With a Shotgun the other night and Strombo plays a news anchor who gets killed in a hilarious and very canadian way. if you're into grindhouse style movies this is a great flick

  8. that's awesome, thanks for posting. she's captured the spirit of that song better than most covers I've heard of it. Except whether intentionally or not, she's using all major chords - the minor chord (is it F#m?) really gives it extra depth
  9. I think there's a lot of people out there who were floored by The Bends - I was 16 and it was easily the best piece of "new" music I had ever heard. Still holds up great today. On topic, really tripping out to music (when you're sober) rarely happens but when it does it's something else for sure. Driving alone in the countryside at dusk is the best way to achieve this in my experience. This board may not be into it so much but electronic artists like M83 and Ulrich Schnauss are awesome for this.
  10. great tracklist to have for download, thanks!
  11. yes, I always look forward to your posts bbop, thanks for sharing everything with us! Now, I have to ask, how the hell are you at every show? For a while I thought you might be a Wilco roadie or tech, but that doesn't seem to be the case. If you're really able to cruise around the world taking in Wilco shows, well God bless you sir! Living the dream for the rest of us shlubs
  12. bah, why does Toronto always seem to get Monday nights for big tours?!
  13. that's a kick ass song, I really dig it. there are obvious similarities but I wouldn't necessarily call it "eerily similar". Lots of bands do the loose, spaced out jam track, PB&J do it so well
  14. nice, I live 2 minutes from there - think I might walk over and see what's going on thanks for the heads up
  15. that rasp is so bloody contrived I want to punch him
  16. exciting stuff! http://pitchfork.com/news/41753-my-morning-jacket-ready-new-album/
  17. Levon Helm is huge, that should be incredible. Is he playing mainly Band classics or is there new material?
