  1. Not a surprise, given his declining health, but hard to fathom that we'll never hear the ABB play live again.
  2. Saw Real Estate a few nights ago. They were excellent. I am a sucker for their sound. The new guitar player is (surprisingly) an improvement.
  3. Just watched Thank You, Friends: Big Star's Third Live.....and More. Highly, highly recommend it.
  4. This nails it for me. No need to see them, as I have seen this show before. In the late 80s, no less (just kidding - there is plenty from after the late 80s, but it does seem stale).
  5. Such a great, great show. We got the expected Johnny Irion as an opening act, but with special guest John Stirratt joining in for two songs, including It's Just That Simple! And it was a ripping version, with Johnny playing an extended electric guitar solo that tore it up. I love that John lives in Maine. We also got extra Jayhawks songs, including Somewhere in Ohio in the encore, and 4-5 songs with Josh Cantor (the Red Sox organist) joining in on accordion. This was the best Jayhawks show that I have been to since the mid-late 90s.
  6. Not my usual fare, but she is pretty compelling. I will catch at least a part of her show at SS. Definite pop up show candidate.
  7. What catches your eye from this track listing? 1. Via Chicago 2. Laminated Cat 3. Lost Love 4. Muzzle Of Bees 5. Ashes Of American Flags 6. Dawned On Me 7. In A Future Age 8. I Am Trying To Break Your Heart 9. Hummingbird 10. I'm Always In Love 11. Sky Blue Sky For different reasons, I am glad to see several songs on there. I love Lost Love, though I cannot imagine it being much different from the original version. Ashes (which I love) and Break (which I do not) should sound radically different from the originals, though I have heard the latter several times live solo so
  8. That is pretty darn cool. Even if I only understand about 2/3 of it.
  9. Hall and Oates. 8 times. My wife is a big fan. What we do for love.
  10. This describes that last decade of Bob Dylan, in 16 words: the songs sort of sound the same. It's the same time signature, slow tempo, and crooning.
  11. That was memorable. SS4: Standing, mesmerized by the video images projected on the walls of Courtyard D as Real Estate played a late Friday night set, after Wilco's set ended. Slight chance I had ingested one Lagunitas more than necessary. SS3: Sam France of Foxygen climbing the scaffolding on the Courtyard C stage, and getting yanked down by a stagehand. Slight chance he had ingested one Lagunitas more than necessary. Every time, hot dogs at nearby Jack's Hot Dog Stand. Celebrating it's 100th anniversary this year. As my vegetarian daughter discovered, their entrees are for carnivores o
