  1. Playing golf, listening to music/going to concerts, watching baseball, reading, following the doings on Via Chicago. This got me thinking about a number of hobbies I once had, but do not anymore because of parenthood, change of interests, aging, etc.
  2. Saw Roy Acuff sing Wabash Cannonball several times when I was a kid. Great memories.
  3. Not exactly sure which songs I have and have not seen. I do know that I have not seen, and would love to see, Say You Miss Me and Pieholden Suite.
  4. Never done the comedy at previous SSs, and won't at this one. Looks like a good lineup though. If my wife went, she would be in there for sure.
  5. That was a great read, unifiedtheory. Love seeing these in the set list: On And On And On She’s A Jar Laminated Cat I’m Always In Love Monday Forget The Flowers I'm Always In Love is a real treat. I'll bet it was even with the stop/start in the middle of it.
  6. I do not hold to a dollar threshold for tickets. I have little interest in seeing big acts (not many that I want to see) in big venues (not a fan of large indoor arenas, sheds, or stadiums), so I do not often pay more than $50 for tickets. Since big venues are a two hour drive away, it works out pretty well. That leaves me going to concerts at venues that hold 300-2000 people. Would I go see the Stones at a smallish, 8000 seat arena? You bet. Not happening, though. Do I have an interest in seeing them several hours away in a 70000 seat stadium? Nope. Got that out of my system 25+ years ago.
  7. Today's snow day has me a bit worried. Last day of school is now Wednesday, June 21st. Creeping closer to the Friday start of SS, and now one day away from my projected departure date of Thursday. The plan has been to leave Thursday morning and roll into the Berkshires Thursday afternoon. I have really enjoyed being in the area the day before SS starts in the past. Another snow day, and that plan is toast. First world problems.
  8. The Head and the Heart @ the State Theater, Portland, ME
  9. Since they have released 2 albums since the last SS in 2015, it would be great to get SW on Friday and Schmilco on Saturday. I'd be ok with that.
  10. This is a great surprise. A somewhat-of-a-hometown show for John! I have not been to the venue, but I have not heard good things. It usually has seats with a "lawn" area behind that. There is no slope to the lawn area. Friends who saw Bob Dylan there last summer said it takes a long time (hour plus) to get out of the parking lot after. The aesthetics are lousy (unattractive layout with a raised interstate adjacent to it). One saving grace: it looks like this may be a GA show since there is only one price. That could be a difference maker. Also, past the lawn area is a tidal river. If the tide
  11. I am fascinated by all of the people freaking out over the ACA going away. It reminds me that someone said when it passed that once it is law, it will be incredibly hard to dial it back. Does it dawn on some of these folks that it would have been awesome to have gotten this engaged 4 months ago? I also wonder how many Trump supporters in less-economically robust parts of the country are having twinges of buyer's remorse.
  12. 6 from AGIB, 6 from Schmilco, 5 from Being There, 5 from YHF, 2 from SBS, 2 from SW, 1 from Whole Love, 0 from Summerteeth, AM, W(TA), and Mermaid albums (if my count is right). Summerteeth no-show a surprise. Would have loved to have been there - 11 from AGIB/Being There is a treat!
  13. I wonder if they will add more summer dates/festivals, maybe some around the 2 in Europe in July, or more after this latest one announced in NJ, in late July. Seems like a pretty thin schedule for having released an album not too long ago. I imagine the SSF takes up a good chunk of time, planning and all, so I can see not adding much before June. Maybe more will be announced for July/August.
  14. I like listening to most of the Son Volt records. Going to see Son Volt play live is like listening to the records, only I'm not in my favorite recliner. And I've paid $ to not sit in my favorite recliner. Not sure I am going to do that again. Maybe if they come to Portland (15 minutes away) I'd pull the trigger; I don't envision ever traveling the 2 hours to Boston to see them.
  15. Peter Wolf and the Midnight Travelers on Friday as the warm up band on Joe's Field sounds right. Television as the opener on Saturday would be my guess, with Kurt Vile and the Violators right before that. I wonder if Robert Glasper Experiment and Idris Ackamoor and the Pyramids will be on the field on Sunday before Tweedy.
  16. I am pretty sure Kelly Hogan was at SS3, part of Neko Case's band. Not 100% positive, though.
  17. It will be interesting to see how (if?) they manage the restricted area between the stage and the soundboard. I am not super jazzed by the lineup, but I am not underwhelmed either. A little disappointed that some acts are not there that I thought might be. Television and Wilco are the highlights for me. Kurt Vile, Kevin Morby - I'll enjoy these. I am looking forward to seeing Big Thief, Deep Sea Diver, and several others. Love seeing Autumn Defense at every SS. I have yet to go to a SS where I did not leave with a few new (to me) bands to listen to and see again later (Mac Demarco, Foxygen
