  1. I had Under a Raging Moon, on vinyl I think. I remember being underwhelmed by it. Daltrey had a greatest hits record that came out before that - "Best Bits" - that I liked. I had Entwistle's "Too Late the Hero" on cassette. Not great, in my memory. Only Pete's solo stuff really stuck with me - "Empty Glass" and "All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes". Still love those.
  2. Same. I can't figure out why it sounds so muddy. Live at Columbia sounds so much better.
  3. Paying it forward! Mine gave me a taste of Busch beer at seven years old. No songs about boners on the AM radio while riding in his '67 Plymouth, though.
  4. I won a ticket from Bull Moose Music to see it in IMAX 3-D last night. I have seen all of the movies, but am not a rabid fan. There were some rabid fans there last night. Lots of hootin and hollerin during the movie (at appropriate times, though). It's a crowd pleaser and will make loads of dough.
  5. AAV of $23 million with Cubs vs. AAV of $25 million with Nats/Cards. I know that WAR fans will argue that Heyward is a steal at that price, but it looks to me like all three were ready to overpay him.
  6. I had neighbors in college who did this all the time. Only there were no briskets involved. I loved it, too.
  7. That's been my thinking all along. Someone was going to overpay for him. Turns out it was the Cubbies.
  8. 1 out of 13 men, and 0 out of 11 women in my neck of the woods. A neighborhood of underachievers. I like how fivethirtyeight's writers thoroughly explain how they get the data and come up with answers to these types of questions. I really enjoy reading their articles. Also just realized a potential difference in the percentages that people quote on this topic - some try to meaure % of veterans who fought in wars, and others try to meaure % of people who have served in the military during wartime or peacetime. Fivethirtyeight's appears to be wartime vets.
  9. ^^^^^It is good to know that newspapers like the New York Times are still important enough to prompt citizens into action.
  10. Not much in this thread makes me laugh, but this did. Thanks, Bob_Roberts.
  11. Missoula was compelling, but a bit of a tough read for me, with the graphic depictions of acquaintance rape. I am glad I read it though, as I have twin daughters going off to college in 20 or so months.
  12. Side 2 does rule. Several months later, and I continue to find Cold Slope as my favorite on the record. I hope they continue to play Star Wars straight through for the winter tour.
