  1. Random Name Generator really rocks live. Glenn looks to be having fun with it.
  2. I agree. Losing a Wilco hat stinks. But Wilco will love you, baby.
  3. Might as well take it down for this leg of the tour, anyway, as they are not playing deep cuts/requests (unless you think HMD is a deep cut and you request it). I don't write that with any snarkiness or malice toward the band, but rather as a matter of fact. I imagine they will get back to dusting off some rarities and mixing up the setlists in the future, as well as honoring our ballot box stuffing. This just doesn't happen to be the tour for that.
  4. Clapton is a tough one to categorize for me. Once upon a time, he was fantastic - from Cream through his early solo years. His playing on the Derek and the Dominos record is pretty mind-blowing, and so is the writing. Since about 1990, I have not been super impressed with his playing, and his music after the late-70s doesn't do it for me. I saw him a few times in the 80s - good shows with great guitar playing. But nowhere near what he had been 10-15 years before that.
  5. I have tickets to see M. ward in the spring. Great news!
  6. I saw that, too. I suppose it might be too much to ask for Scott to play on M. Ward's upcoming tour.....
  7. Ummm....that was a rippin version of Random Name Generator. Loved Jeff's solo at the end.
  8. Both from 1984 tours: Back in the Saddle - Aerosmith Are You Ready for the Country? - Neil Young and the International Harvesters
  9. Got it. The van was a riot - it needed a wash in the worst way (just about every car up here does, given the salt and slop on the roads), and the automatic door on the van appeared to get stuck and would not close after they got out. Playing a record store, when they clearly do not need to in terms of publicity/selling records, is pretty darn cool.
  10. Here is a brief article on the in-store show. Not entirely accurate (they report 8 songs played, there were only 7), but an adequate general overview. One note - the band members pulled up just after 1:30 PM. Five members were driven in a not-too-recent Honda Odyssey, and Pat was a passenger in a late model Hyundai Vera Cruz. More evidence that they are pretty regular people. Except they play fantastic songs really, really well.
  11. Bummer about the Spiders cut. Given what other acts play, 2 hours and 28 songs is a pretty solid show. My daughter got 20 songs at a Brad Paisley show in Bangor last night. I'd be surprised if they did not play Star Wars in full tonight. I'd bet that is here to stay for a while. My guess is that the greatest hits section and the hootenanny get a makeover tonight, with 7 or 8 repeats there as well. My picks for repeats from the hits section - Art of Almost, ITMWLY, HMD, and Impossible Germany (and maybe Camera and Hummingbird, too). I also would expect some repeats in the hootenanny, maybe Mi
  12. I have always had a big soft spot for Jefferson Starship - their greatest hits album, Gold, is a gem.
  13. That could conceivably add to the experience of hearing Wilco live. Imagine racy poetry with hootenanny Wilco backdrop.
  14. ^^^^That song is possibly my favorite Bowie tune. Something about the sound I just love.
  15. I loved last night's show. We had no chatty folks near us. We were right in the middle, standing on the rail that is about 15 yards back from the real rail. I love this spot at the State Theater - the sound is better, and it is raised above the standing area that is closer to the stage so the sight lines are excellent. This will be my go-to spot now at the State. Star Wars was excellent, particularly from Pickled Ginger on. I was most surprised by Pickled Ginger and You Satellite, as I am not as big a fan of these two on vinyl. They rocked live. Cold Slope/King of You was raucous, as I had h
  16. I have only seen one show at the Orpheum, and I thought the seats were great - they were so small that everyone ignored them and stood the entire show. Kind of like a GA show, with a little room around you because the seats are in between you and the folks in front of you and behind you.
