  1. I still think Close Encounters of the Third Kind was the better sci-fi movie of 1977.
  2. High school special education teacher. Almost became an interim assistant principal today, but dodged that bullet.
  3. I loved your reply to Jeff's reply. And he seemed to love it, too! This was a great read tonight, after the fact. Jeff's statements that he misses Jay Bennett and that he enjoys Jay Farrar's work were touching.
  4. That was a great moment, when Jeff walked onstage to join them.
  5. I am loving Where Do I Begin. I could listen to those last 4 songs (Where Do I Begin, Cold Slope, King of You, Magnetized) over and over and over. Actually, that is what I have been doing.
  6. I love the song Southern Accents, and I am a fan of It Ain't Nothin' to Me as well (love the live version off of Pack Up the Plantation).
  7. I have yet to figure out how to effectively convey sarcasm in print.
  8. Well, as noted earlier, it is a "breezy little ditty" that made Entertainment Weekly's list of "Hot Midsummer Jams for your Weekend", so that may explain it. http://www.ew.com/article/2015/07/24/midsummer-playlist
  9. I really like their version. Incredibly different from the original.
  10. Just put The Rape of Nanking on hold at my town library. Thanks for the heads up on it.
  11. A Lucky Town EP would have kept him off this list for me. I saw Springsteen around this time, with that non-E Street backing band. I found it to be a joke. One of the 5 worst concerts I have seen.
  12. Bought the CD today at Bull Moose music, using the $1 off coupon sent out by Wilco HQ. Brought the price down to $8.97 plus tax. It sounds great cranked up really loud in the minivan. Yeah, I said it. Minivan. A cat-like 2008 Nissan Quest that blasts Wilco regularly.
  13. From Wikipedia entry on Chris Heston: On June 9, 2015, Heston no-hit the New York Mets 5–0 at Citi Field, becoming the 22nd rookie pitcher since 1900 to throw a no-hitter in a major-league regular-season game. He struck out 11 and walked none; the only 3 runners to reach base were hit by a pitch.[14] Heston closed his no-hitter with three strikeouts in the 9th inning, a feat last accomplished by Sandy Koufax in his perfect game in 1965 against the Chicago Cubs.[15][16] Heston's three hit by pitch batters in his no-hitter were the most since 1914, and has Heston as the fourth MLB pitcher sinc
  14. Bob Dylan - "Saved" and "Down in the Groove" and "Under the Red Sky"
  15. I cannot wrap my head around the number of poor decisions made by the Red Sox front office over the past 13 months. It has been a remarkable run by Cherington/Lucchino/anyone else who helped make those decisions. I won't even get into not signing Lester and instead signing the pitchers they did get. How did the average fan know that Panda's weight would likely become more of a problem as he ages, and the Sox brass didn't? Panda's production was down each year for his last couple of years in SF. Fans knew that. How did the FO not? Everyone (and I mean everyone) who knows baseball knows that Han
  16. Counting Crows were hit and miss for me. We were well back from the stage, so that may have accounted for some of the miss. We did get a good set list, including an excellent "You Ain't Going Nowhere". I'd love to hear your take after next weekend's show.
