  1. Great to see! I am interested in the Terminal 5 show - Theologians, She's A Jar, and The Lonely One are songs I have not seen/heard live in a long time.
  2. Her gold medal run in the last event, the 800, was the best moment of this Olympics that I've seen so far.
  3. I really like SBS, but I love TWL. Impossible Germany and You Are My Face might be my favorite two songs off the two LPs, but start to finish, I'll take TWL.
  4. I love the Mohawk Trail! Especially from North Adams to Charlemont. One of the few stretches of road in the east that feels like you are in the west.
  5. I can understand this. Still think it is a pretty song, though. I now watch Jeff strum during the freak out sections, and I stay rooted in the melody. OK, I sneak a glance at Glenn going crazy, But I try to focus on Jeff....all right, I check out what nuttiness Mikael is up to, but I really try to stay focused on Jeff. And Nels, he is distracting, with all of those jerky arm movements during the freak out sections, so it is hard not to watch him. Come to think of it, I like the live version as it is now. What I do like about it is when I see this song live with someone who has never seen W
  6. This was my first Wilco show. And my favorite. No doubt nostalgia plays a role in that, as well as going into the show with no expectations. 13 Being There songs helped, too.
  7. I veer away from a contractual dispute theory, and think that the band is not playing any W(TA) because they don't want to - they are not inspired by the songs at this time, or they are not having as much fun playing them, or they don't fit with the flow of the set lists on this leg of the tour. I have no evidence for this, just a fan's hunch. In Davenport a month ago, they played One Wing and Country Disappeared. The former got an ok response from the crowd, the latter less so (except from me, as I requested it online 4-5 times prior to the show). I did not miss W(TA) in the other two shows
  8. I know they have underachieved mightily this season, but I am still surprised that they are selling. It probably makes sense, but I still can't get my head around it.
  9. A great show in an odd venue. Basically a stage plunked down at a fairground. The beer corral off to the side was packed, especially during Lee Renaldo. It did seem like a small crowd at the start of Wilco's set, but about 2/3 of the way through, the place was packed. I don't know where all the people came from. Maybe the corral was empty by that point. Too Far Apart, Via Chicago, Monday, and Late Greats were highlights for me. I am loving Nels' early solo in Impossible Germany (before his solo during Jeff/Pat's twin guitar attack). This first solo seems to be a little extended now. The guy
  10. I have a new favorite venue for a Wilco show - Ommegang Brewery. Guys in pink t-shirts who are rocking out only made it better. There were lots of beer-fueled folks there, but no one in my vicinity was out of hand. There were just loads of people having a great time. I think that was apparent to the band, and thus Jeff's comments, which I took as heartfelt. I agree with the prior comments about this being a rock concert. I had flashbacks to 1997. The last three songs were ripping, and the energy did not flag all night, but somehow picked up in intensity as the night went on. Like a good ro
  11. I know it is not loved by some, but it is a favorite of mine. It brings a smile to my face when they play it live.
  12. Fantastic setlist. Love the encore, and Wishful Thinking, Capitol City, and Pot Kettle Black must have been a treat.
  13. That would be a memorable opening ceremony. I love the idea!
  14. Agree. And I will feel badly for those kids who went there to get an education and play football. They will no longer have a team to play for, and they will have to transfer if they want to continue to play college football. The "death penalty" in college sports does impact innocents. In this case, the institution was so morally bankrupt (and some factions continue to be - notice continued support for Paterno, et al. in the PS community) that taking away their sacred cow makes great sense. Get the focus back on education. As a school, they could be up front about getting back to the core mis
  15. The data reads: 28 shows in 27 cities, 73,002 tickets sold, averaging out to 2,704 tickets sold per show. Average gross per show was $152,232 with average ticket prices at $56.30. Total North American gross for first six months was 4.1 million dollars. A pretty good year, and this doesn't include the overseas dates! 16. A good solid Wilco show. They cut Misunderstood and Red Eyed and I Got You from the encore - the only disappointment in an otherwise fine show.
  17. Quadrophenia is one of those discs I would take to a deserted island. The album expresses all of those teen-angsty feelings I felt as a 15 year old some ten years after the release of the album. Thank you for sharing this clip! Loved it.
  18. I am truly not trying to be a downer with this, which came from Wilco a few weeks ago: "And in just two weeks, they begin the last US leg of The Whole Love Tour with a 2-night stand at one of America's most gorgeous venues -- Red Rocks in Morrison, CO. From those epic Colorado nights through the end of summer, most of you will have one last chance to see the band for before they downshift into the semi-hiatus of recording mode for much of 2013." Solid Sound is on their calendar for 2013. Maybe next year's big summer vacation could be in New England?
  19. Good God, I didn't know there were this many passionate, knowledgeable Texas Rangers fans on the planet!
