  1. or get either from netflix. as i type that, i will be trying to catch the sunken treasure thing as i keep having to cycle in flicks both my wife and i would enjoy over the top of it.
  2. So, since you are the one driving the argument via your original post...shouldn't you be just as much on the hook to provide said list supporting your claims that VW is destroying the earth as we speak? You seem just as sure of yourself that they are one of the worst, so why not pony up something to support that?
  3. on the sliding scale of 'selling out'...what is paul mccartny ranking at right now? starbucks record label, iTunes TV ad, superbowl halftime performer...shouldn't he have been burnt at the stake by now? by someone who actually cares about these things? someone who is not me?
  4. my prediction is that the black guy who leads the band will say 'awwww jay, you crazy.'
  5. sorry I missed this, E. happy birthday and, in case you haven't seen it, i watched alien vs. predator the other night and it wasn't nearly as bad as i had expected. you should check it out.
  6. Seconded and I especially agree w/ the Tupac synopsis.
  7. 'You can Barack me tonight'...this is gold.
  8. I actually believe that has been greenlighted for Fall 2007.
  9. annnnnnd it seems they played one of our favorite afterwork watering holes recently, 5 minutes from my office.
  10. I've just hit the links on that site to most of the bands and the answer is...not many. Surprsingly, I think Warrant has the most original members only missing lead singer Jani Lane, but they get a 1/2 a point for replacing him w/ Jaime St. James from B-list 80's hair metal band Black & Blue. Conversely, White Lion is lead singer Mike Tramp and the rest of the band are new guys...but original White Lion drummer Greg D'Angelo is playing w/ Britney Fox on this same bill.
  11. Sweet jesus...that's like the Bonnaroo of the 1989 me.
  12. it's junkfood TV, but they do a really good job at it and, annoying as she comes off in 90% of her roles, i'd like to have a cuddle party w/ Sandra Oh and the chick that was on the Drew Carey show. just be forewarned, i've watched this show since the first season and not once has Patrick Dempsey done the African Ant-Eater Ritual dance...i keep hoping though.
  13. i think i like 'rock' ryan adams a little more than country-ish 'not so rock' ryan adams. granted, in the right mood and setting, I could see this being a cool little album.
  14. my wife 'made me' DL the Kelly Clarkson album much in the same way she 'makes me' watch Grey's Anatomy.
  15. Yeah...most of those movies seemed grittier, scarier and WAY more realistic than the ones out today...even w/ the advances in SFX. Trust me, Chainsaw is obviously one of the more well-known, but there were countless others way worse. I mean, I know what you're saying...in some weird way they seem to be glamorizing it a little more or something.
  16. I saw movie poster for that on one of those rotating ad things at the fucking MALL the other day. i'm a huge horror movie fan and, while i agree w/ Beltmann and Kate to some extent on the recent foray into 'torture' based horror...movies like that have been around for ages (Texas Chainsaw as one example)and i saw plenty of them in high school/college...i'm fine. again, it comes down to being able to discern it's not acceptable ways of behaving (understatement) and that it doesn't play in reality. that said, back to the original topic, anybody who exposes their kids to that same type of film
  17. Fair enough. Just to be accurate, they played Beautiful Day and Where the Streets Have No Name. Streets was inspired in some part by classism in Belfast, but the intent of the song was more so describe 'a feeling of wanting to break out of the city and a feeling of wanting to go somewhere where the values of the city and the values of our society don
  18. Part of the initiative is to hold the US more accountable for the Millenium Development Goals. As you've stated, the current administration isn't doing it...so why not get a jump on those who may be taking eventual control? If you actually check out the ONE site, you'll see that work being done isn't to replace the MDG's, but augment or help make them an actuality...they allude to these goals all over the place. My statement on generalizations and pessimism, was directed at the whole 'anybody who wears one is only doing it as a status symbol'...maybe some people really are looking to both d
  19. Another sweeping generalization, but okay...pessimism is doing much better job than bracelets, so keep on saving the world.
