  1. That's some good reading. Albini's Liz Phair is Rickie Lee Jones, Smashing Pumpkins are REO Speedwagon, and Urge Overkill are Oingo Boingo comparisons are pretty funny.
  2. That's a great album. I have it on vinyl but when the Tower Records near me was closing its doors I bought it on CD for about $2.
  3. That is true. I used to drive 35-40 minutes each way to work and I would listen to talk radio (and sports radio) some of the time. And I would get unfuriated at certain hosts but also curious as to what they would say about certain topics. About two years ago I started taking public transportation and now I find that I don't miss those radio folks at all.
  4. Tough start for Mussina tonight ...
  5. Well we had four Republican governors in a row (until recently) ...
  6. Saw him play last weekend and it was quite good. It's not the Feelies but it was pretty enjoyable. I talked with him before the show and he said the Feelies are rehearsing these days. They have a couple of shows scheduled (at Maxwell's and the 4th of JUly show) and hope to play in Boston and Chicago in the fall.
  7. That story is two years old ...
  8. Now we know who to blame ... It's pretty cool that Varitek has now caught four no hitters.
  9. There were also some live clips on Pitchfork TV.
  10. I heard it was Skull & Roses and Dead Set last night ...
  11. I liked seeing Billy Wagner interviewed after (I think) last night's game. He finally said "why the f*#@ are you interviewing the closer? I didn't even pitch tonight ..."
  12. And when Jim told him about the sale Ryan said something like "congratualtions on doing your job." Your wish came true ...
  13. Not the Lou Reed thread I was expecting ...
  14. From Relix Magazine: Former Sleater-Kinner guitarist Carrie Brownstein is at the center of the latest accusation against the Grateful Dead. Brownstein was recently asked to compile a playlist for NPR
  15. I have probably listened to Blood on the Tracks more than any other album.
  16. That is correct. And their city news (Boston proper) is also better than the Globe's. It is certainly more sensational but they cover the neighborhoods of the city much more thoroughly. I suppose it is happening to newspapers all over but it is amazing (and discouraging) to see the talent that has left the Globe in the last 18 months.
  17. Apology Wednesday, May 14, 2008 | http://www.bostonherald.com | N.E. Patriots On Feb. 2, 2008, the Boston Herald reported that a member of the New England Patriots
  18. I don't think I have ever seen my son laugh so hard as when he watched that scene.
  19. Yup - I wasn't all that clear with my pronouns. I agree with you. I liked Little Children but Abstinence Teacher feels like he had a deadline to meet. I just read Perrotta's The Wishbones, which was pretty good.
  20. I'm a big Perrotta fan but this didn't do much for me. It felt a little dashed off.
  21. I hope people grabbed what they could: "Due to events outside of our control, we no longer carry the Rolling Stones catalogue on eMusic. We are sorry to see it go, but hope to get them back in the future. Thanks for your understanding." As for me, I was waiting until next month ...
