I'm a little surprised that Mariano Rivera got into the HOF unanimously. I assumed that at least one voter would either continue the stupid tradition that no one should be unanimous or decide that he wasn't worth because he was a relief pitcher.

One of the favorite shows that I attended.

As am I. Though I agree that he turned Moonlight Mile into too much of a dirge.

I'm really enjoying this album.

I can't believe that Harold Baines got in.

I'm still bummed that I had to choose between RT and the Tweedy book reading a month or so ago. I picked Tweedy but I always love seeing RT.

Love that album.

Is this offer still open? I'd love it ... I saw Rob Sheffield read/talk last night about his book on the Beatles. He raved about the 50th anniversary edition - though it sounds like he got to listen to it at Abbey Road Studios with Giles Martin (which would have been incredible).

One of my favorites that I have not seen mentioned is Dove by Belly.

Going to see him in a few hours.

I can't remember the exact question but Jeff basically said that people always want to talk about the tension between them and why UT broke up and focus on the negative aspects of the relationship. He spoke about how he looked up to Jay and learned a lot from him and particularly how patient Jay was with him.

Via Michael Azerrad's twitter feed: Exciting news: out in spring, the #audiobook version of _Our Band Could Be Your Life_ w/Grammy-winning @HachetteAudio. Folks who were inspired by the bands in the book read chapters. First up: @JeffTweedy from @Wilco reads the Minutemen!

I really enjoyed it. I don't think he had great rapport with the interviewer and I suspect that they only met a few hours before the show. She also didn't seem to understand that people want to hear Jeff talk and not her. (And to be clear, I know she had a really tough job and I don't think she was terrible.) But he was funny and engaging and thoughtful and genuine. He seemed a little nervous, maybe from not knowing what questions were coming next. He talked about everything from musical inspirations to shredding on the guitar to depression/addiction to Jay Farrar. He then played thre

Agree. There are even some versions where Donna's contributions add to the song.

Nicely done. I'm looking forward to catching up on my sleep (and not being so stressed about baseball).

It was part of the Town and the City Festival. https://www.thetownandthecityfestival.com/artists/ That particular show was at Christ Church United. There were maybe 30 people for Damon & Naomi and 50 for Kristin Hersh.
-
Nice! I saw Damon & Naomi play up in Lowell last weekend opening for Kristin Hersh.

I read that Eric Gagne (remember him?) noticed something in Kimbrel's motion that was tipping his pitches and alerted Cora. He looked pretty good last night.
-
I don't like the fact that Kimbrel has gone from a lights-out closer to being the reincarnation of Mitch Williams.

Jealous! But it sounds awesome. I've seen them do lots of Velvets covers over the years but they definitely introduced a bunch of new ones for this show. Oh! Sweet Nuthin!
