  1. Agreed. She's one of my favorite singers/performers but it's not the greatest artwork ...
  2. I heard the Maron podcast and agreed it was great. Lots of funny stories form both of them. I really like the new record. It's got a couple of just classic sounding Buffalo Tom songs, including All Be Gone. It closes with a nice cover of Simon and Garfunkel's Only Living Boy in New York. If you are already a fan, you will like this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oG-p98KNCX4
  3. Enjoying the new Buffalo Tom album.
  4. Posted elsewhere but Neko Case has a new one coming out on June 1.
  5. New Neko album on June 1st (and video of the first single in the link): https://pitchfork.com/news/neko-case-shares-new-song-hell-on-listen/?mbid=homepage-more-latest-and-video
  6. I know their first two albums get most of the attention but I'm a big fan of this one.
  7. I haven't read that particular book but it's a great and tragic story. And it's why Nova Scotia sends Boston a Christmas tree every year ...
  8. I wonder if the president is going to take the blame for the Dow dropping 1,175 points today.
  9. Steve Earle (with Bill Janovitz from Buffalo Tom opening)
  10. Interesting interview with David Byrne here: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/features/david-byrne-trump-why-he-wont-reunite-talking-heads-w516185 But if you're hoping for a Talking Heads reunion, here's what he's got to say: You once said you've avoided a Talking Heads reunion because it would overshadow the other things you've done. Is it really that simple? There's a lot to that. I see what happens with other people when they do their reunions – and then it turns into a second reunion and a third reunion. With someone like the Pixies, it's different – they're getting the audience now
  11. That show was the first tape I ever got ( a long time ago ...). I should track this down and see how it holds up for me.
  12. I kept waiting for Philip to step into the TARDIS and leave Elizabeth behind ...
  13. Came out 25 years ago today (or maybe yesterday). I think it holds up pretty well.
  14. And a nice interview with Ira and James about the album here on Stereogum: https://www.stereogum.com/1979031/read-our-qa-with-yo-la-tengo-and-hear-4-songs-from-their-new-album-theres-a-riot-going-on/franchises/interview/
  15. New album (called There's a Riot Going On) will be out on March 16! Four songs are streaming in the obvious places, including NPR: https://www.npr.org/sections/allsongs/2018/01/18/578626840/hear-4-songs-from-yo-la-tengos-new-album-there-s-a-riot-going-on?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=nprmusic&utm_term=music&utm_content=20180118
  16. I swear this show has conflicted with Pats games before...
  17. I'm in this camp. I was living with a friend when Too Long in the Wasteland came out. We played it a lot but my friend always called it "the album by Larry McMurtry's kid ..."
  18. I got that book after going to MassMOCA to see the Magnetic Fields. It is really well done - but I think it could probably use an update as they just opened up a whole new area.
  19. I can't tell you how much I am enjoying this book. It is part graphic novel but mostly an interesting personal history of New York City. It is funny and fascinating and informative.
  20. Buffalo Tom (though they actually released it early to PledgeMusic supporters) Belly
