Favorite Christmas Albums?
Oil Can Boyd replied to Winston Legthigh's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
That was the only Christmas album that my parents owned when I was growing up so I have mixed feelings about it. It is a great album. But they would play it non-stop every Christmas season. -
I have not heard anything about an album but the tour announcement from Matador said "MIGHT THIS TOUR HAVE SOMETHING OR OTHER TO DO WITH NEW RECORDINGS? Maybe. Possibly. Who can really say for sure in confusing times such as these."

I was just making a donation and saw that John Stirratt, Spencer Tweedy, and Howe Gelb had just made donations (or at least people using those names ...).

I went last April for about six days and had a blast. We had an airbnb in Reykjavik but got out of the city both in our own rental car and on a tour bus. (I'm generally not a fan of bus tours but this one was great.) We were probably never more than 100 miles from Reykjavik so we didn't see most of the country - but there's lots to see within two hours of Rekjavik. You need to be a little careful that time of year because storms come in from the west really quickly and the weather can change suddenly. And if you are really going off-road exploring in a car, be sure to get one that is rated

Being There (with peter Sellers) was on TV last night. I was scrolling through IMDB to find out who some of the other actors were and noticed that Oteil Burbridge has a small role in the movie.

Wow - that was a pretty grim read.

Totally agree. Kohoutek and Good Advices are two of my all-time favorite R.E.M. songs.

Nice interview with Peter Buck here: https://www.salon.com/2017/11/03/peter-buck-of-r-e-m-how-many-people-write-songs-when-theyre-70-i-want-to-be-one-of-them/ You produced Uncle Tupelo ["March 16-20, 1992"] right before demoing for "Automatic" started. Did that have any bearing, from your perspective, on how you approached things? I think it probably did. I went to see the Uncle Tupelo guys — I think their second record wasn't out yet. There were like 30 people there. And the first song they opened with was that Louvin Brothers song "Atomic Power." I wandered up and said, "Hey, loved the set

A bunch of years ago I went to see Steve Earle with a co-worker who was somewhat conservative but claimed to be a big Earle fan. When Earle started in on his politic banter (as he is wont to do) my co-worker got offended and turned his back to the stage. He said that if we hadn't driven together, he would have left. He apparently liked the music but never listened to the lyrics.
